BREAKING NEWS
High School Graduation
Students and Parents of Class of 2021, This year's graduation ceremony will be held outside at the football field at Northwestern High School on Tuesday June 1st. Students need to arrive at Northwestern NO LATER than 8AM. The ceremony starts at 9am and will only last one hour. Appropriate ceremonial attire is required for students. All students must be dressed in their assigned cap and gown. As a result of COVID-19, ceremonies will take place outside and students may wear appropriate clothing underneath their gown that will keep them cool and comfortable. There are no clothing color requirments for the clothing under the gown, however, no jeans, sweatpants, sneakers, crocs or shorts. The ceremony will be outside on a football field so flats/comfortable shoes are recommended and should be worn. Decorations nor any other items should be affixed to caps neither before, nor during the ceremony. Each student will be given 2 tickets when they pick up the cap and gown. The county will NOT provide extra tickets to any family, they have made this very clear. The ceremony, in its entirety, will be live-streamed on a CMIT Graduation youtube channel and I will provide that link once it is available. Stay tuned!

Drama Club Performs Monologues!
Drama Club has been exploring the world of the monologue. We have watched some outstanding performances and discussed techniques, each time pulling something that made the performance believable. Then, each member went out and looked for a monologue to perform. Members are recording their monologues to post on the CMIT YouTube channel. They have been hard at work and we can't wait to show you the finished products!!

9th Grade Academy House Events Update
Hello, CMIT Families! It's been a busy couple of months, and it is time for a house update! We combined house events for the months of February and March back in March. Two panels of amazing students participated in discussions around the expectations of Boldness and Execution. They shared their successes and challenges and, most importantly, strategies for students who are working to grow in this area. The invitation to attend this event was accompanied by a survey asking students to evaluate the impact of these house events on their choices. Students could earn house points by attending the panel discussions and/or by completing the survey. (The feedback was positive!) I am happy to announce two house winners. Congratulations to the houses of Execution and Gratitude! Students in these houses will receive a link in their emails to participate in a special event this week. We will combine house events again next week to focus on the two remaining expectations of Diligence and Curiosity. The line up appears to be pretty exciting, and we are looking forward to bringing students together to close out this year of events. Students should check their emails for links to this event later this week. All the best,

Ms. Colandrea 9th + 10th Grade Assistant Principal English, MAPS, SPED, + Social Studies Departments
