Publicity Release Forms
|
Greetings families,
Each school year Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) requires parents/guardians to fill out a Publicity Release form for each student. Throughout the school year, PGCPS and Prince George’s County Board of Education conduct activities that may be publicized by local or national news media or used to promote the school system. Publicity activities include interviews, photographs or videos of individuals or groups of students, or student works (including, but not limited to, artistic works, athletic activities, performances, and competitions) that may be used in websites, social media such as Facebook and Twitter, print or online publications, or videos.
Please fill out the attached Electronic PGCPS 2020-21 SY Publicity Release Form by checking only one of the boxes to GRANT or NOT GRANT PERMISSION.
This Form will remain in effect through September 2021.

Hello and Welcome Back!
I hope everyone enjoyed some relaxation and Thanksgiving Holiday joy.
This week Physics students will 'level up' in the Work unit by learning about the harnessing of Work and Energy - particularly Potential and Kinetic Energy.
BioGeoChem students have completed FAST-1 testing and will now learn about the Energy contained within the Earth and how that energy sometimes escapes all at once with enormous force.
I'll 'see' everyone in class!

Media Production I--Ms. O'Donnell
|
Congratulations to Queenswil Ndamo, Adeyemi Chaytor and Nathan Daniel for having their videos chosen as part of the High School Newscast during PGCPS/PGCC Media Day event! The topic was "Life and Learning in the Pandemic" and each student submitted a 60 second video. They were fantastic and if you don't believe me, check them out on the CMIT YouTube channel. All of the Media Production students did a great job.
The students also submitted a 30 second channel video where they recorded a Thank You message to one of their teachers, past or present, to celebrate American Education Week. The videos were then part of the morning announcements and it was a wonderful way to celebrate educators. Ask them to share their video work with you! Next up, stop motion videos...think Gumby. Can't wait to share those with you too!

Photographer of the Week!
|
This week we have TWO Photographers of the week....
Please congratulate Susan Kamara and Hafsah Ghori! Our votes resulted in a tie!
The prompt encouraged club members to share photos of what they are grateful for. Both Hafsah & Susan shared photos of family members; Hafsah shared her grandmother's hand and Susan shared her little sister playing in some leaves!
Although they are each grateful for many things in life, their photos focus on specific individuals.
As you look at these photos, who does it remind you of? Who and what are you grateful for? Take the time today to think of something, and maybe even someone, that might come to mind. If you can, let that person know you appreciate them.
Thanks CMIT community! See you next week!

Drama Club
|
Drama Club had a guest speaker on November 17th and it was AWESOME! Asia Nicholson is a professional actress, writer, director and producer and just started her own production company, Media Basia Productions. We heard about her experiences in film and television and her upcoming documentary project, Faces of Africa Nigerian Resistance. Asia was amazing and the members were able to ask her questions about acting, film and television. We are hoping to have more guest speakers in the future. The club is also looking at radio plays to possible perform via ZOOM for the school. We are still looking for members, so if you are interested please contact Ms. O'Donnell.

Important CLUB Eligibility Reminders!
|
Greetings Families,
Even though we have been in distance learning conditions, more than 25 clubs have been serving successfully at CMIT-N High School.
Clubs and the STEM Team have their meetings in the virtual environment.
I had already announced eligibility criteria to be able to attend the clubs at the beginning of the year and I would like to remind them again.
In order for students to participate in Clubs and STEM teams, the Board of Education of Prince George’s County Public Schools shall require students in high school to maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent.
Students who have a Quarter 1 GPA less than 2.0 can not participate in clubs during quarter 2! Those students may return to their clubs at the beginning of Quarter 3 if they can make their Quarter 2 GPA at least 2.0
Submitting the publicity release form and granting publicity release is required to be able to join clubs, and STEM teams at CMIT-N HS.
The deadline is Nov 30.
If your scholar is currently a member of a club and/or STEM team or is planning to join, please fill out the attached Electronic PGCPS 2020-21 SY Publicity Release Form by checking the GRANT Permission box.
