Distance Learning Continues
|
As announced last week by Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, distance learning will continue throughout the remainder of this school year as school buildings will remain closed. Per PGCPS, our seniors will have their last day of school this Friday, May 15th. Congratulations to the Class of 2020!! All other students will have their last day on Tuesday, June 16th. While we are saddened to miss the opportunity to end the school year together, we look forward to the time when we can come together safely in the future. We will continue to update you about how this might look as we receive updates from PGCPS. In the meantime, you will find answers to frequently asked questions at the following links:

Video Math Assignments ShoutOut Showcases | May 4th to May 8th
|
ShoutOut to the second batch of students who used their creativity, great use of technology and eloquent math explanation in showcasing their math videos for the fourth week of our Distance Learning. The students used the online tools such as Demos.com, Evernote.com, Screen Record, Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), Whiteboard iPhone app, and Phone Recordings to showcase their Math Works. They went beyond what was assigned and dug deeper into the concept of the lessons. Great work, Everyone!

SAVE THE DATES | PGCPS Hosts Virtual Graduation for Class of 2020
|
By now, we are relatively certain seniors and their families are aware of the system-wide virtual graduation to celebrate the Class of 2020. On May, 8, Dr. Monica Goldson, CEO of the Prince George's County Public School system, announced "a system-wide virtual graduation celebration in their honor, featuring Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson as the commencement speaker!"
The eGraduation Celebration aims to pay tribute to an estimated 8,000 seniors at 31 traditional, public charter and alternative high schools. In addition to the inclusion of Ms. Henson, a 1988 Oxon Hill High School graduate, the event is anticipated to include other prominent alums for the celebration. Stay tuned but save the dates as the eGraduation is scheduled to air Saturday, May 30 on WJLA 24/7 News (Comcast 808, FiOS 508, DirecTV/Dish 8) and Sunday, May 31 on ABC7.
Thank you.

Honoring Mother's Day
|
In 1914, the late President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the 2nd Sunday of May a national holiday to honor mothers. Today we refer to this "holiday" as Mother's Day. Mothers have assumed additional roles as we ensure the safety and wellbeing of our families during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an extraordinary time for our country and each of us will have some memory of these historic times to share for generations to come.
The CMIT Academy North Middle and High School Executive Operating Boards of the PTO pause to recognize the multiple talents and contributions in honor of moms and mothers-to-be at CMIT Academy. This includes parents, administrators, faculty, and staff who unconditionally share their time to nurture the growth of another child and instinctively treats that child as their own. This eGreeting is for you -- https://www.americangreetings.com/pickup?rr=y&m=&token=r0fb9ec01-f398-482d-b013-a1fcccd594ba&pn=prod3491451&utm_medium=pickup&utm_source=share&utm_campaign=receiver .
We hope your Mother's Day with loved ones was enjoyable and that everyone remained safe and well during these unprecedented times.
Thank you,
