Greetings From the English Department
|
The English department extends its sincere wishes for health and happiness to you and your loved ones during these challenging times. All grades are working on poetry in some capacity or another during the fourth quarter, and writing poetry can be extremely rewarding and cathartic. The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System is hosting its first annual poetry contest, open to both children and adults. The theme for the contest is summer/vacation, and entries are due by Friday, May 8th.
Three Tips for Writing Poetry:
1. Keep a thesaurus handy
2. Incorporate the senses to “show” rather than tell
3. It does not have to rhyme!
Roses are red
Violets are blue
It’s time to unleash
The poet in you!

Ms. Coholic's Science Classes
|
Hi, Everyone!
Please keep checking SchoolMax at least once per week.
A note about late work: Many students are beginning to submit work that is three or more days passed due. While I have been and will continue to be lenient due to not knowing conditions at home, receiving work that was due days (or even a week ago or more) is unacceptable. Please manage your time well. I want all of you to earn the three quality point "Pass" benefit from the district.
Physics will continue with electric circuits. This week, we will begin the properties, uses, and quantification of parallel circuits.
BioGeoChem will begin a new unit. Having completed the district's curriculum requirements for the MISA test (which has been set aside this year), we would normally begin a 'Life Skills' unit through the end of the school year. I know students wished to learn cursive writing, but the current methods for instructional use are not amenable for learning to write in cursive (to say nothing of my penmanship using a mouse or touchpad!) or giving a lesson. SO! As I hinted in our zoom class time, we will begin something new - VIROLOGY. I hope you will find it interesting and relevant. Any students with an interest in or considering a health profession should find this unit especially enjoyable.
See you in class!
