Principal's Message
|
Dear Parents and Guardians,
State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Karen Salmon, announced that all Maryland public schools will now be closed until Friday, May 15.
CMIT North High School is continuing distance learning. It has been largely successful in spite of a few complexities and a steep learning curve. Thank you for supporting your students and teachers during this transitional time! As educators and parents, we must support continuous learning no matter what form it takes. CMIT North High School's expectation is that our students will remain engaged academically and sharpen their learning skills. Thank you for helping educators set the same expectations at home as at school. We are all in this together. Please encourage students to reach out to their teachers with questions or concerns so that we can support them during this time.
I am fully aware of how hard all of this has been on CMIT North High School seniors. Please remember graduation ceremonies are postponed, but not canceled at this point. We are waiting for updates from the district to create recognition for our Class of 2020. During this time, the team is discussing possible alternatives to provide the best experience for our Class of 2020 as they close their senior year.
Lastly, we are organizing a virtual spirit week which you will learn more about in the newsletter. We will stick together even when we are physically apart!
Stay Healthy and Safe!

We're In This Together!
|
Hello, 9th + 10th Grade Families:
We have nearly a week of live distance learning behind us, and it has been quite a unique and surprising experience. I was pleased to join classes and see so many students logging on, checking in with each other and their teachers, and getting down to work. While it is not the same as working together face-to-face, I believe those connections were meaningful for our academic and social-emotional well-being. I hope that even more students will be able to participate this week for the connection.
Although, schools have been closed for a number of weeks already, I want to recognize that this is still a period of transition for all of us and communication is encouraged as we all adjust. Please have students reach out to their teachers with questions or concerns about content and assignments. As always, I am available to address questions and concerns as well.
Thank you for your continued flexibility, patience, and commitment.
Stay safe and be well.

Student Records Updates and Lottery Registration
|
Hello, Parents:
Due to the current school closures, we are not able to process any new lottery registrations or complete any student record updates. Lottery registrations and withdrawals will be processed once it is safe for staff members to re-enter the school building.
Parents that may need to update their home address in the system will have the ability to do so at that time, as original documents will be required.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me via email at sbond@cmitacademy.org.
Thank you and please stay safe.

Ms. Coholic's Science Classes
|
Hi there!
I attended the Science Department meeting and discussed how to make sure students are kept informed about how they are doing in light of the Pass/Incomplete grading for the 4th quarter. While Mr. Bayram stated that the district still needs to convey to teachers how the P/I grades will be calculated, he will let us know as soon as he knows.
For now, I will be entering grades in SchoolMax so that students (and parents) can see that work has been turned in, reviewed, and graded. Please continue to check your SchoolMax grades FREQUENTLY. If you turned in an assignment and do not see a grade by the following Monday, email me, and I will double-check that the submission was received and grade it accordingly.
PLEASE DO NOT TURN IN WORK LATE! Not only will it be reflected late in SchoolMax, it means you will need to be hustling at the end of the quarter in order to avoid a grade of Incomplete. Also, remember that I do NOT have to grade late work. So pace yourself!

Virtual Spirit Week April 27-May 1
|
Hello CMIT Students!
I am sure that you've heard that our virtual-learning has been extended by the Governor through May 15th. We thought it may be fun to do a Virtual Spirit Week to add something fun in this very difficult time and we hope you will participate. If you are interested in participating, please dress up and take a photo of your themed outfit and email it to Ms. Gaudette at ngaudette@cmitacademy.org. She will make a picture collage to be posted each day on Twitter and shared at the end of the week through the Newsletter. Think you can do better than the staff? They're being invited to participate too! The best outfits will also be highlighted in the Yearbook!
The spirit week will be from Monday April 27 to Friday May 1. Please see the attachment for the theme days!
The only rules are:
1) Make sure your themed outfits are appropriate! If a submission does not following PGCPS dress code guidelines, consequences will be given as needed by your grade-level administrator.
2) Send your submissions by 3:00pm each day so that they can be reviewed and put together in a collage so we can post on Twitter!
We can't wait to see your submissions!
Sincerely,
The CMIT Leadership Team
Sincerely,
Ms. Natalie Gaudette, Professional School Counselor
