Principal's Message
|
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The spring is here with its warm weather. These past few weeks have been unlike anything that most of us have ever experienced before. I want to thank all of the teachers, students, and parents for all of their hard work and collaboration during this difficult time.
Please know that our staff is doing the very best that they can. I’m so impressed with the level of commitment from our teachers. Each department team completed the distance learning schedule and it is posted on the website. Please check the link below.
http://cmitacademy.org/highschool/distance-learning-schedule/
I also want you to know that we completely empathize with you, whether you are working from home or structuring learning and organizational skills for your children. I've been on many Zoom calls recently to ensure distance learning expectations are covered at CMIT North High School. We recognize the complexity of your individual situations at home as a parent, and extend understanding and compassion to what you’re going through to support your student.
We are all in this together, and we’re grateful for this amazing professional learning community that includes staff, students, and parents. Thank you for your continued support and appreciation of our staff. We will get through this together!

Field Trip Cancellations and Refunds
|
Hello, Everyone:
In line with the state mandate to slow the spread of COVID-19, all school-sponsored field trips have been cancelled. I am in contact with all field trip sponsors to determine if their field trip will be rescheduled for next school year or cancelled altogether. All students who paid for cancelled field trips will receive a refund as soon as it is safe for school staff to return to the school building.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at sbond@cmitacademy.org.
Thank you and stay safe.

African American Historical Documentaries Club Updates
|
Congratulations to the 10th Grade Team for winning the First CMIT Black History Quiz Bowl!!!
The Rita's ice cream prize is on hold for now. Stay safe and stay well at home.
While you are home, there are a couple of films on Netflix you might want to check out:
- Maya Angelou's And Still I Rise. Her first autobiography, "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings," is a great read as well. Audiobooks are available on PGCMLS Online.
- Who Killed Malcolm X. It is better if you read the book, "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" by Malcolm X, first.
- Kevin Hart's Guide to Black History. He has a funny overview of interesting and innovative historians.
In the meantime, just in case you feel like a prisoner, consider reading the letter Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote from a jail in Birmingham, Alabama.
P.S. We all have history makers in our family. I challenge you to ask your parents, grandparents, uncles, or aunts and keep their history alive!

Student Records Updates and Lottery Registration
|
Hello, Parents:
Due to the current school closures, we are not able to process any new lottery registrations or complete any student record updates. Lottery registrations and withdrawals will be processed once it is safe for staff members to re-enter the school building.
Parents that may need to update their home address in the system will have the ability to do so at that time, as original documents will be required.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me via email at sbond@cmitacademy.org.
Thank you and please stay safe.

Senior Diploma Verification Forms
|
Hello, Class of 2020 Families:
Senior Diploma Verification Forms were handed out to each senior two weeks before school closures. These forms are needed to ensure the accuracy of the spelling of their names on the student's high school diploma. The deadline to submit the signed forms was Friday, April 3, 2020, however, with an extended deadline to Friday, April 10, 2020. Due to the current plan for distance learning, I will be providing one more extension through April 17, 2020.
Please be sure to view, sign, and submit this form back to me as soon as possible. As we will be out of school for the next couple of weeks, feel free to scan and email a copy of the form to my email at sbond@cmitacademy.org.
I have attached instructions, as well as a blank copy of the form, if needed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you and have a wonderful and safe week.
Mrs. Bond, Registrar
