Principal's Message
|
Dear Parents and Guardians,
All schools will remain closed until APRIL 24, 2020.
Monday, March 30 will remain the end of the third quarter. Please communicate with your teachers if your student has any missing work to submit.
CMIT North High School will continue providing online work to our students to continue learning. I believe teachers and students are doing their best to continue learning activities during this state-wide school closure. I started collecting participating data from our teachers and I’m proud to see that we have very high participation rates, especially with 9th and 11th grades. I appreciate all of our AP and honors classes with 90-100% participation!
Please email operations@cmitacademy.org if you have any technology problem with the student Chromebooks or any internet problem at home. Your support and communication will help us to identify problems and provide possible solutions.
We received information from PGCPS that the fourth quarter will begin Tuesday, April 14, and students will earn either a Pass or Incomplete grade at the conclusion of the quarter. Final grades will include a letter grade from the first three quarters and an explanation included on all transcripts that fourth-quarter grades were earned remotely. Also, for spring break, all schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, April 9; Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13. There will be no online instruction for students from Monday, April 6 through Monday, April 13. Online instruction will continue Tuesday, April 14.
All state exams are cancelled and AP exams will be online. CMIT North High School AP teachers will continue providing materials to study and guidance to prepare our students for these exams.
Graduation and proms are postponed, and we are waiting for updates from the state and PGCPS.
Please stay safe, healthy, and keep practicing social distancing to protect our community’s health!

Senior Diploma Verification Forms
|
Hello, Class of 2020 Families:
Senior Diploma Verification Forms were handed out to each senior three weeks ago. These forms are needed to ensure the accuracy of the spelling of their names on the student's high school diploma. The deadline to submit the signed forms is Friday, April 3, 2020. Please be sure to view this form, sign, and submit back to me as soon as possible. As we will be out of school for the next week, feel free to scan and email a copy of the form to my email at sbond@cmitacademy.org.
I have attached instructions, as well as a blank copy of the form, if needed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you and have a wonderful and safe week.

CMIT Learning in Motion!
|
Amidst the Panicgogy, the understanding of students' practicalities, such as they only have smartphone data and no internet, family responsibilities, that they are not home and need to find a new place to live, new jobs, and new health insurance or others, I can only applaud CMIT students who are continuously doing their best to keep the learning in motion.
Brought by the pandemic challenges the United States and the world face today, digital learning has become a solution to continue students' progress. CMIT is entwined with a beautiful technological culture. Being an IT school, the knowledge we endow inspires our students to become viable, and it affects how they live, play, and, most importantly, learn.
I want to share some information that two of the courses from the science department had ninety-three percent (93%) of the work done on a timely basis and with a higher level of accuracy. Being a critical and experienced educator, I have seen dedicated improvement and reflection time among our students. And I can tell that these all happen because of the collaborative effort of teachers' dedication, administrative support, parents' reliance, and students' diligence.

Greetings from the English Department!
|
We hope that families are staying safe and making the most of this time together. Teachers are continuing to upload educational resources to Google Classroom on a weekly basis, prompting students to continue reading and writing at home.
State standardized tests have been cancelled this spring, and accordingly, 10th grade English students are no longer required to take the MCAP (formerly PARCC). However, AP Language and AP Literature will still offer exams, although they will not be offered at the school, per usual. I encourage you to visit College Board's website for more details about AP exams: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/coronavirus-updates
Thank you, and be well!
