HS BREAKING NEWS
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians, All Maryland public schools will be closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday March 27. The health and safety of all of our students continues to be our first priority in the wake of the evolving situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at CMIT North High School. For that reason, we are working collaboratively with CLF to continue deep cleaning and disinfecting for our school during this unplanned break. I will be in the building frequently to monitor the cleaning activities. CMIT North High School teachers will continue posting assessments online. Please expect communication from teachers with the detailed information. We updated CMIT North High School website by creating an online classroom tab. Google Classroom links will be posted on the website under Academics/Online Classroom section. http://cmitacademy.org/highschool/online-education/ You will be able to see Google Classroom links attached to the teacher names. Please communicate with the teacher if your students need access to Google Classroom. Parents should have an invitation from their teachers to receive a summary from Google Classroom. PGCPS will make adjustments to the school calendar to extend the third-quarter grading period. During this time period, please support your student to be organized and continue learning activities by following their teachers’ directions. They may need a little encouragement to complete their assignments on time without regular school settings and follow ups. Please remember it is a new setting for them and it may be difficult for some students who are having difficulty in time management. Dear parents and guardians, with your support, we can continue educational activities during this challenging time!

Online Classrooms and Google Classroom Summaries
CMIT-N HS teachers have been delivering assignments and announcements through Online Google Classrooms since the beginning of the year. Now, all online Google Classroom links are uploaded to the website for easy access. However, Google does not allow parent access to Google Classroom because of privacy reasons. Only students can access Google Classrooms with cmitacademy.org emails. On the other hand, parents/guardians can receive email summaries showing their student’s progress in the Classroom. If you have never received email summaries, you may contact to your child's teacher to be invited to your child's Google Classroom. (For each course) Do not forget to accept the invitation! You may find teachers' emails on the CMIT website under Academics/Departments. Parent/Guardian email summaries include: Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails) Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers Please follow the link below for more info about Google Classroom email summaries: https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6388136

School Closure 2-week Lesson Plan in Biology + Medical Science
Dear Parents and Students! To support the decision made by Maryland Department of Education and Prince George's Public Schools on March 12, about closing Maryland schools for two weeks, I will post all of the assignments that students will work with tasks and agendas, just like regular classes posted each day during regular class time. All mandatory assignments will have a Google Assignment with more information displayed about how it will be submitted. I will condense the work as much as I can without the consequence of having the curriculum suffer. Students may reach out to me through email, and I will try to respond to messages as soon as I can. Parents, please monitor and check your child's grades on SchoolMax with their work submissions in Google Classroom. All parents from Biology and Medical Science classes were invited to join the course at the beginning of the year. If you have not accepted the invitation as yet, please do so. Please see the link below on Biology and Medical Science lessons in two weeks. I am encouraging everyone to please take care of yourselves and each other. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VZZzJ54WmZWtFlcokJUX_C5jck3PbKNaHBoeiPNLF5I/edit?usp=sharing (The same email was sent to all parent on Friday; March 13, 2020) Sincerely Yours,

Social Studies Department Plans for Student Lessons During School Closure
Dear Parents and Students, We know that there are many Social Studies subjects where students are required to take state tests or have signed up for the Advanced Placement exams, all of which will take place in May. In order to make sure that our students are ready for those tests, and stay current in any non-tested subject, we have decided the to do the following to help stay on top of lessons during the school closure: 1) Each teacher will make a post on Google Classroom that outlines the assignments for the week by 6pm on Sunday. 2) Assignments can be submitted on Google Classroom by 11:59pm on the assigned due date. 3) On-Level and Honors Classes will receive 2-3 assignments per week. 4) The number of AP assignments for the classes will be based on teacher, with an average of one assignment given each day, some due by 11:59 pm that night, others staggered. 5) Any previously assigned homework should still be turned in on the assigned deadline. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher. 9th Grade US History: dlee@cmitacademy.org 9th Grade AP US History: jcunning@cmitacademy.org 10th Grade US Government: gelrod@cmitacademy.org 10th Grade US Government and Politics: jcunning@cmitacademy.org 11th Grade Honors World History: imirza@cmitacademy.org 11th Grade World History: jfunk@cmitacademy.org 11th Grade AP World History: jfunk@cmitacademy.org

AP US History and AP US Government Course Work during School Closure: Week 1
Hello Parents and Students! As I discussed in class this past week, I will be posting all of the assignments that students can be working on throughout the school closure today, with assignments and agendas posting each day at the start of normal class time. Next to each assignment, I will state whether the item is Optional, Recommended, or Mandatory. All Mandatory assignments will have a Google Assignment with more information posted about how they submit their work. With the AP Tests just over a month away, we are unfortunately unable to slow down the learning process. I did condense the workload and number of assignments that students would normally do in order to help relieve some of the stress that this might cause. I have suggested that students reach out to me on Remind and then Email, as it will be easier for me to see and respond to messages that way.

Ms. Coholic's Science Classes
Hi Parents and Students, Students have been instructed to verify that they have access to their Google Classroom account for assignments including assignments provided to A-day students this past Friday. BioGeoChem students have access to their e-text via clever.pgcps.org, which we will use for reading assignments and self-checking of understanding. We will also use the Google Classroom. This is important as the MISA test will not be pushed back unless a decision is made at the state and testing company level. Physics students will be using a combination of Khan academy, Google Classroom, and 3blue1brown via YouTube. Any students who do not have Google Classroom access should email me so I can send an invite for student access. Stay well everyone!

I will be available via email to answer questions. Thank you, and stay safe!
