BREAKING NEWS
Principal's Message
Dear CMIT Parents, Guardians, and Students, It is the first Saturday, right after our first week! I’m at school observing wonderful students and teachers continuing learning and extracurricular activities! It was great to see our future engineers working with the organization, National Society of Black Engineers. Our 11th graders were also busy with SAT preparation. I’m truly proud of my team who creates a great environment and opportunities for our students, even during weekends! It is the true spirit of CMIT North High School! During the first few weeks of school, our staff took time explicitly teaching rules and expectations for classrooms, as well as other locations throughout the school. It is evident that it assisted in increasing the ready-to-learn environment at school. I would like to say thank you to my students and my student leaders. It was amazing to see everyone working as a team to improve school practices, and exchanging ideas to reach our goals. Dear parents/guardians, please ensure you will provide updated contact information. We are working on updating the SchoolMax database that will help us reach all of our families with the necessary information. Thanks to all CMIT parents who were able to attend the 9th Grade Back to School night event on Thursday, September 5, 2019. It was a great success! I heard many wonderful comments and suggestions from our families, that I shared with my team members. Please remember you are always welcome to visit me or email me to share your concerns, suggestions, or ideas. We will work together to make our school the best high school in the state of Maryland!

9th Grade Expectations
Hello, 9th Grade Families! It was a pleasure to meet so many of you at the Back to School Night and to begin sharing some of our plans for our 9th grade students. I spoke at length about nine expectations we have for students and want to share them with you for your reference and support. They are included here (https://tinyurl.com/9Expectations) in the form of posters that decorate our 3rd floor classrooms and hallway. As mentioned, we will be supporting students to build and strengthen skills in this area. We welcome you to do the same at home. Best,

Tammy Colandrea | 9th + 10th Grade Assistant Principal

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome Back from Ms. Coholic!
Hi Students and Parents, First, welcome back! I hope everyone had a great summer break. It's very nice to see so many of my students from last year in attendance in my classes this year as well as passing me in the hall. This year, I will again be teaching Physics and BioGeoChem. Students have received a hard copy of the syllabi for their classes. Please read, sign, and date and return to me by September 12. A digital copy of all syllabi will be in my students' respective google classrooms as well for future reference and in the event the hard copy is lost. As students make 'tweaks' to their schedules and the class rosters changed this past week, I anticipated not diving into curriculum right away. However, around the middle of this week, we will begin to follow the curricula for both subjects. Physics students will need to have their math calculators for classes. As I did last year, I will attempt to communicate with all of you via this newsletter at least every other week. I'm looking forward to a successful school year.

English Department
Welcome back to our CMIT students and their parents that are returning for the 2019-20 school year. And a special welcome to our new to CMIT students. We look forward to your child to having a successful year at CMIT North High School. The English department offers student curricula that explores the intersection of the real and imagined worlds through the analysis of texts. Units of instruction are organized around essential questions that guide students toward a mastery of the Common Core State Standards and prepare them for College and Career. Through the analysis of a range of texts students work towards refining their critical thinking, reading, writing, speaking, listening and 21st century skills. We believe we have an excellent educational community and look forward to providing students with many different types of academic and co-curricular opportunities.
