Q3 Report Cards + Grade Changes
|
Hello, CMIT Families:
This year, the county has adopted new procedures for making quarterly grade changes. The biggest difference is the enforcement of a cutoff date.
Third quarter report cards will be distributed on Thursday, April 11th. Please review them closely. If you find that a grade change is warranted, you must complete and submit the attached form to the front office by Friday, April 26th.
For more information, review Administrative Procedure 5116, which can be found on the PGCPS website.
Respectfully,
Tammy Colandrea
Assistant Principal

CMIT HS Students Participate in Jumpstart Junior at Capitol Technology University
|
Below is a write up from one of our Juniors about our trip to Capitol Technology University:
"Friday, March 22, 2019 we took a visit to Capitol Technology University for the open house for eleventh graders. Many schools came to visit to learn more about this private school in Laurel. Capitol Technology University has a lot of technology fields like Unmanned Systems, Analytics and Decisions Science, Computational Systems, Cyber and Information Security, Management of Technology, Security Intelligence and Critical Infrastructure, Engineering. After an informational PowerPoint about how to apply, tuition, high school requirements, financial aid, etc., we took a trip around the campus to see labs. We went to a robotics lab, analytics and decisions science lab and also learned a little about planes and drones. We ended it off with a nice meal and long conversations with administration counselors."

Ms. Coholic's Science Classes
|
BioGeoChem students finished the 3rd quarter with the atmosphere and oceans. The 4th quarter will focus on human impacts on the Earth, which makes a considerable overlap with Environmental Science. As the 4th quarter begins, we will lead off with a deeper study of The Lorax as viewed through the lens of young adults and apply the factors in the movie to current events.
Physics students have a take home assessment on unrealistic physics portrayed in movies. We began the school year with the notice that 'physics changes the way you see the world around you from a physical standpoint'. Students viewed a movie in class and received a rubric to guide them in the take home test, which is due Monday, April 1 - and that's not fooling. ;) For the 4th quarter, students will take on sound waves and electromagnetic waves.
