CompTIA A+ Computer Technician Certification Training - Interest Survey
|
Hello CMIT Community,
Together, with Capitol Technology University, we are hoping to start a new computer certification program for students, parents and CMIT staff members. It is called CompTIA A+ certification. Again, this will not only be for students but also for parents and CMIT staff. The classes will take place at CMIT on Saturdays. This survey will help us to reach out to interested parents, students, and staff. You may see the details of the program below.
Capitol Technology University’s eight-day CompTIA A+ training is an in-depth course that provides a student with the basic and necessary software and hardware skills to be a successful computer technician. The eight sessions (6 hours per session) will be offered on Saturdays over a period of eight weeks during Spring 2019. In addition, students who complete the course will gain 3 credit hours that can be counted toward their study at Capitol Technology University. This course prepares students for the CompTIA A+ technician certification, which is a key consideration for employers trying to hire the best technicians available.
Course Benefits:
(1) The course will count for 3 credits for students who attend Capitol Technology University for their undergraduate studies
(2) Students can work for technician wage rate rather than minimum wage when they complete this class and obtain the CompTIA A+ technician certification
(3) The course and associated certification may help students in securing admission at their target university
(4) According to "2016 IT Skills & Salary Report by Global Knowledge (Base: 14,000+ IT Professionals), the average salary for CompTIA A+ certified professionals is: $72,546
CMIT rate is $1200 per student. This price includes a 40% discount off the original price of $2000 per person. Competitors in Maryland charge $2,800 per person for a 5-day CompTIA A+ training.
*The $1200 price does not include textbook and certification exam fees.

Announcement - CLF Invites Parent Members to Serve on Its CLF Board of Directors
|
The CLF Board will appoint two parent members from Prince George’s County to its Board of Directors. Interested parent candidates wishing to join are required to submit their resume along with a cover letter of intent to the board of directors by January 31. Cover letter items should include various ways the parent candidate believes they will best represent CLF’s public charter schools by contributing to the CLF board. Potential candidates are also asked to indicate how many children they have attending CMIT schools and how many years they have been involved with CMIT schools in their cover letter. Please e-mail your resume and cover letter to: awilson@clfmd.org with the subject line: “CLF Board Parent Candidate.”
Board Executive committee will review resume submissions and select five candidates prior to the board meeting. The board will vote to elect two out of these five parent candidates recommended by the executive committee at the January 21, 2016 CLF Board Meeting. The parent board members selected will then serve a one-year term and parent board members may serve for three consecutive terms if re-appointed by a majority board vote at the end of each annual term.

Health Class
|
We are approaching the time of the year when I will begin to teach Family Life and Human Sexuality. This is the part of the course that requires student permission slips to be signed by a parent and returned by each student. Each form must be filled out regardless of participation in this part of the course.
Anyone not participating in the Family Life Human Sexuality portion of Health class will be given an alternative assignment and be placed in another room to complete their assignment.
There is still a number of students who have not submitted Family Life and Human Sexuality permission slip. That was due 12/18/18, and I need them returned ASAP.
I am attaching a permission slip, and it will be handed out.

End of 2nd Quarter is Near
|
Hello CMIT Families!
Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope you have had a restful break.
The year is moving quickly. The end of the second quarter arrives on Friday, January 25th. This is three weeks away and plenty of time for students to increase their grades with consistency and hard work, if that is a goal.
Please be sure you and your students are checking SchoolMax regularly for updates and encourage students to submit any work that they are still eligible to submit. Also, if you have questions about grades, this is a good time to start reaching out to teachers for clarity if you have not already done so.
Let's end the quarter strong!
