CMIT Athletics CultureFEST Fundraising Booths
|
Dear CMIT Parents,
We are having a multicultural fest, as we do every school year and are asking for your help. The cultural fest is a student event where they get to show insights on their culture. While the audience is going around witnessing these different cultures of students, it would be nice to have something to eat and drink.
We as an athletic department are asking if you could kindly donate snacks and drinks for this event. Also, if you have a specific culture, you may bring in a home-cooked dish to share in the event.
This will help us raise money within the sports department. If you are interested in supporting all athletes in this event, please click the link below and fill out which school you will be supporting and what you would like to donate.
Thank You!!

NSBE-FIRE STEM Activities
|
NSBE FIRE has been meeting every Saturday to engage students in STEM Activities. In the mornings from 10-11, we have been doing a Principles of Engineering Workshop to teach students concepts they will need in future STEM fields. In the first two weeks we focused on electricity and batteries. This past week we worked with bridges and securing structures in place.
We also have multiple teams that practice every we for specific competitions. These teams include: Try-Math-A-Lon, Ten80, VEX, and TARC. The Try-Math-A-Lon team focused on reviewing questions from the PSAT taken the week before and preparing for the Regionals Competition in November. Ten80 was testing some of their cars to see how well they could control them going through cones. Some of the other Ten80 team members split up into 2 groups. One group worked with the 3D printer that VEX and Ten80 plan on using this season, and the other helping CMIT put together their MakerSpace. The VEX team did research on the new competition and helped out with the MakerSpace and 3D printer.
On October 3rd, we had 5 students attend the event at the National Air and Space Museum. The students were sponsored by the Maryland Spaces Business Round table, and were able to see the presentations prepared for the professionals. This was a wonderful experience for all that attended.

Dress Down NOT Earned
|
Unfortunately, rather than getting closer to the schoolwide goal (125 or less tardies in a week), the student body is getting further away. We had over 300 tardies this past week.
Tardies in the first few weeks of school were only around 150-170 each week, so we know that the 125 is attainable. Students just have to do the work to get to their classes on time rather than socializing in the hallways before and between class.
I'm hoping that we start moving towards the schoolwide goal soon so the school can earn their dress down days!

Important Uniform Policy Update
|
Hello, CMIT Families!
We have made some changes to our uniform policy.
First, we have clarified our policy around accessories to address headbands. Language previously read that sweatbands are not permitted. An adjustment has been made to specify that this includes headbands as well.
Second, previously students who have uniform violations that cannot be corrected have been sent to the intervention room to complete their assignments for the day. In an effort to keep students in class as much as possible, students with these violations now will be provided a large shirt with the CMIT logo and core values to wear over their clothing so that they can be returned to class.
Please see this link to the Student Handbook which details the uniform policy as well as a number of other pertinent policies and procedures: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WtTdkcB9Q_RAulyTB0hMNUXParEra0r30hhaqKTvHAs/edit?usp=sharing
Respectfully,
CMIT HS Administration

Dear CMIT Families,
Throughout the years we have worked together to provide a fun and safe learning environment for students. We couldn’t have done it without all your thoughtful donations. We recently added this school store for after school purposes like late night games or after school clubs.
