Saturday School Starts October 20
|
Saturday School will commence on October 20, from 9-1pm, and will continue until Mid-May. This year, Saturday School will be open to ALL students, as the PARCC data suggests that student scores have room for growth in the areas of both Math and English. Core concepts and strategies will be reviewed and retaught in these areas. Algebra will be the main focus in Math, but remediation in all other areas will be available as well. In English; however, there will be an emphasis on these main strategies:
Grammar
Writing (vagueness, transitions, quotes)
Reading Comprehension
Ability to Address All Aspects of the Writing Prompt
Relevant Evidence to support the prompt
Locating the Central Idea in Informational Text

Important Uniform Policy Update
|
Hello, CMIT Families!
We have made some changes to our uniform policy.
First, we have clarified our policy around accessories to include headbands. Language previously read that sweatbands are not permitted. An adjustment has been made to specify that this includes headbands as well.
Second, previously students who have uniform violations that cannot be corrected have been sent to the intervention room to complete their assignments for the day. In an effort to keep students in class as much as possible, students with these violations now will be provided a large shirt with the CMIT logo and core values to wear over their clothing so that they can be returned to class.
Please see this link to the Student Handbook which details the uniform policy as well as a number of other pertinent policies and procedures: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WtTdkcB9Q_RAulyTB0hMNUXParEra0r30hhaqKTvHAs/edit?usp=sharing
Respectfully,

Dress Down Day NOT Earned
|
The checkpoints to be met were:
20 or less Uniform Violations Schoolwide
125 or less Tardies Schoolwide
For the week of 10/8-10/12 students had:
8 Uniform Violations (great improvement from last week!)
231 Tardies (this is worse than last week)
Therefore, there will NOT be a dress down day next week.
I've been seeing a LOT of students in the hallways when the bells ring, and that is causing your peers to be late to class and the whole school to lose the opportunity to have a dress down day. Please encourage your friends to get to class on time and in their proper uniform so that hopefully the school can earn dress down days in the future. Remember, scarves, headbands, and headphones are not permitted in the hallway and those DO count as violations and are counted in your totals.
