Chesapeake Math and IT High School's first Team America Rocketry Challenge team was tasked with launching a rocket aimed for a certain time and altitude while carrying two egg payloads. Terrence, Omar, and Terrell, a newly formed group of rocketeers, started their mission in the early weeks of December 2017. The group was slow at first and maybe had too many laughs, but with the help of a great teacher, Kyle Sutherland, we eventually got somewhere during the common months; the group finished their first rocket and were ready for launch with wings around April. The rocket was very nice with some people being a little bit more attached to it than others. It had smooth brown wings, shiny white polish, was over twenty inches tall, and had a sharp-looking nose cone to pierce the sky. Unfortunately, the qualifiers came faster than expected, and we had Ms. Graham launch it for the group in Virginia where it reached an outstanding height of over thirty feet - huge thanks for her! Sadly, Team America did not go on farther than that qualifier, but there are plans to revive the club next school year with higher goals. Coaches: Mr. Sutherland and Ms. Graham

Dear CMIT Families, Even with the extended school year, I am shocked that the last day of school is already upon us. This is especially true because we arrived here through a tremendous amount of hard work. Thank you to those of you who supported our work by supporting your students. Thank you for your time and encouragement and constructive feedback. Thank you for helping us grow. We have a great community at CMIT, and I am hopeful that each of you takes the summer to decompress and rejuvenate. I look forward to seeing you again in the fall. All the best,
