Construction/Civil/Architectural Engineers Provide After School Introductory Program for CMIT-North High School
|
After school Friday, 4 May 2018, a group of Construction/Civil/Architectural Engineers representing Turner Construction Company provided once-in-a-lifetime team building and engineering skills development to a group of CMIT-North High School students. Our very own PTO father, Milton Davis (Jordan Davis' father) who devotes his time every Saturday to NSBE training students for a national engineering competition, invited the Turner Construction Group to our school.
Mr. Milton Davis contacted Mr. Avsar, our esteemed Assistant Principal, who worked with Ms. Cline, Science Department Chairperson, who brought the entire Science Department onboard. Ms. Alma Smith, especially, was all-in and remained assisting Ms. Cline and students until the event ended at approximately 5:30pm.
Turner Construction engineers, training our students included the very talented: Daymanuel "Manny" Samuel (organizer and brainchild of Turner Construction program at CMIT), Greg Stortstrom, C.J. Stottuth, and Brendan McCarthy.
Students were versed in team approaches used by engineers, ending with completed projects, presentations, proposals...real-world scenarios.
Please enjoy photographic highlights of the event.
