2nd Grade Updates!
Hello everyone, from the 2nd grade team! We hope you all had a great week this week! We are excited to continue celebrating Black History Month this month! Students are learning a lot of important material in each subject, as well as learning about different important events and influential people for Black History Month! In Reading, students are learning about poems and rhyming words. They are also reading biographies of many different people for Black History Month along with practicing comprehension by answering questions about true events. In Social Studies, students are in chapter 2 from our social studies books about trading and bartering as well as influential people for Black History Month! In Math, students are finishing up learning about subtraction within 100, and in science, students have been learning about properties of matter! We are so proud of you all for your consistent hard work! Students began their winter term of their MAP Growth assessments this week. They took the MAP Math assessment this past week and they will be taking the MAP Reading Growth assessment starting next week (February 18!) Please make sure students are present and on time next week for class as we deliver step by step instructions on how to log into the test. If parents are available to assist students with just the logging on process, that would be very helpful! Aside from logging in, students should receive NO help or assistance on any part of the MAP tests. Teachers will be sending scores from the tests home once students all take the test! Also, reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 15 due to Presidents Day, and a delayed opening on Tuesday the 16. Parents teacher conferences will also take place next week on Tuesday morning and Wednesday. Keep an eye out for a sign up sheet from your teachers! If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher! Thank you, and we are looking forward to another great week of school next week!! **Announcement: Our Valentine's Day drive thru gift pick up is POSTPONED, and will now take place next week on Wednesday, February 17! We hope to see you all there!** From your 2nd Grade Team! :)

Lots of Learning in Kindergarten
WE MADE IT HALF WAY THROUGH! We celebrated 100 Days of Learning this week. That means we have 80 more days of learning this school year. We have celebrated many highs and lows already this school year. No matter what the rest of the school year looks like, in person learning or virtual learning...Let us not slow our momentum but push on. Parents...you are amazing! Thank you for being there for you child and thank your for your support this school year. In Social Studies this month we are focusing on influential African Americans who have helped make our country great. One of the students' favorites has been Kamala Harris, our Vice President. She is an amazing example of what it means to not give up. Even at the young age of 5 and 6...students are understanding what it means not to give up. Examples have been, learning to ride a bike, learning to do a cartwheel, learning math and writing and many more. Students are seeing that they too have what it takes to be amazing! Enjoy the snow and your families this weekend.
