Principal's Corner
|
Parents,
I hope you are all making the best effort to stay safe. Know that our students and you are on our minds. While we are all in the same circumstances (working from home while attending to our children, sharing our work technology so they can do their school work, finding time to help them while we do our jobs, etc.) we understand how challenging this is. We will get through it together.
As parents, we are all concerned that our students will fall behind. Please remember, every child is in the same situation. They too will "fall behind". Some school systems are closed. That means no more instruction of any kind. All districts will have to address the skills they were unable to teach when things return to "normal". Therefore, be encouraged and know that you are not alone in your concerns.
As we move in Quarter 4, we ask you to have your student participate in the work and activities as much as possible. I must say, our teachers are geared up and excited to venture into distance learning and are taking professional development classes to ensure they are proficient in using the platforms the county recommends. Please work with them. Many teachers have done Zoom meetings quite successfully. We hope they will continue. If your child's teacher is doing a good job under these unusual circumstances, please feel free to give them a shout out. Let's face it, it is easy to spot the things that are going wrong and overlook the things that are going right. Let's begin to encourage our teachers when things are going right! I look forward to hearing from you as you celebrate the successes.
With this in mind, I appreciate your patience and encouragement. When we found out we needed to do our Chromebook distribution we had to wait to get all the details. We received all the details Monday evening. Tuesday, the staff met via Zoom to discuss that, among other things. Immediately following that meeting, the tech team met to discuss our plan. Our tech team voluntarily risked their safety to make sure we were ready for you by going into the building Wednesday to get the chrome books ready for you.
We had one of the most seamless distribution ever witnessed. We thank you for your encouragement and well-wishes as you drove through the distribution lines. As one parent (celebrating the positives) puts it-please see above

5th Grade Updates 3/3/2020
|
Greetings Parents,
It has been a crazy couple of weeks but we have persevered. Students will be enjoying some time as we put in grades and prepare for our distance learning model. Take this time to have students read independently and look the unit map on class dojo to see what we will be talking about in the 4th quarter.
We will keep you updated as we get new information.
As always stay safe and we look forward to this new journey with your students.
Hawkins and Rowland

Kindergarten at Home

WOW!!!! What a few weeks. I hope this newsletter finds all families safe and healthy. We have all gone through so much. Please be kind to yourself and do not put any guilt trip on yourself about anything...especially school.
I am sure by now you have heard from your teachers. Most of you know that Ms. Curtis broke her leg over the break and will be back after Spring break. I (Ms. Derfler) have been in the house taking care of my parents as well as my kids. We have sang karaoke, had lego build challenges together and also against other families using FaceTime. We have started a garden...I do not like to garden but my daughter does. We have had fun but we have also had our share of family arguments. I put pictures up of my daughter, Abby and I with crazy hair, don't care and a picture of us with our dog Hank. My two boys did not want to be in the pictures. I guess Fortnite is more important.
Enjoy this time of slowing down. We all know that when things get back normal we will all be at warp speed again. Enjoy your family, play games, read together, even play video games together. This is a time we will never get back so cherish. It is a blessing in disguise.
Send your teacher a video or picture of something you have been doing. You can email your teachers. Tell us how you have been spending time with your family. What is the best thing about our time away from each other? What is the worst thing about being away from each other. We miss you all very much. We look forward to hearing from you.

Second Grade Strong!!!!!
|
Greetings Parents and Family,
We, the second-grade team hope that you and your family are staying safe and well during this time. A special thank you to all of our families that are Essential Employees and cannot be home daily with your scholars. We understand completely and we are here to help in any way. We ask that you stay tuned to Classdojo and Google classroom for updates. We thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time. You are doing amazing jobs of supporting your scholar through navigating with new websites and technology. Please be ensured that we are taking every step to aide our students. Check Schoolmax on Monday as grades will be published and it closes on Wednesday.
We love and miss our students and their families. We look forward to beating COVID-19 and returning to school, running at full educational speed. Until then take care of yourselves and each other!!!!!!!!
Ms. Michelle Phillips, Ms. Fleet, Ms. McDonagh, and Ms. Lambert

Your Support was Awesome!
|
Parents/Guardians,
We noted how you came through the Chromebook distribution line at school. Thank you for the part that you played to ensure efficiency and safety.
You are the real Tigers and we appreciate the sacrifices that you make each day despite the circumstances.
Please remain calm and stay safe; when in doubt-curl up with a great book.

Staying Happy, Healthy, and Creative!

Here is some awesome work done by you, yes YOU while we've been away! Of course, it's not every thing and I wish I could show off everyone's work! Unfortunately, I am bound by the limitation of 6 pictures only.
Let's get creative!
Miss James
