FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Jr. Competition pictures for CMIT Tigers!
On February 23rd, CMIT South Elementary School attended the Maryland FIRST LEGO League State Championship's FIRST LEGO League Jr Expo, organized by the FIRST Robotics Competition team, The Bliar Robot Project, with support from the Maryland FLL Jr. Affiliate Partner, the Universities Space Research Association. This event was hosted by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. First, I would like to thank CLF for supporting our team (CMIT Tigers) throughout this journey. Secondly, I applaud the parents for supporting the team and coming out to the event. Thank you. Now, I would like to give credit to our students for the hard and laborious work they have put into making the robots and poster board. At times it was fun and at times it was challenging, but our students got through it all. So, thank you for your patience and demanding thirst for knowledge and the persevering need to get through it all! Each of our students has won ribbons, and we have received a trophy and a certificate! Here is a snippet of their journey through pictures. P.S. We had ten minutes to build an automobile, and our team became first with the model car they had built.

Kindergarten
We have been working hard for the Black History Program. Students have learned their lines and are eagerly waiting to show the school and parents. We will be starting a new homework packet next week to start the month of March. Please make sure all homework is turned in by Monday 3/2. The weather outside is constantly changing. Please make sure you child has heavy jackets for cold days and light jackets for warmer days. Students may stay inside if they do not have jackets warm enough for the weather. Please continue to read with you child as much as you can. It will help them in school but most of all you are creating people who have a love for reading and learning. Have a great weekend!

4th Grade
Fourth Grade Parents, 3rd Quarter Progress Report grades have been posted. Tomorrow students will receive a print out of their assignments and grades as they appear on progress reports. These printouts will be sent home along with attachments of missing work. ALL MISSING WORK IS DUE FRIDAY MARCH 6, 2020. Students will have a week to submit all missing assignments for all content classes. In Reading we will continue our novel Shiloh and prepare for our assessment. We are striving to finish chapters 7-11 in the upcoming week. In Social Studies, students have begun drafting their own Declaration of Independence that resembles the document drafted by Thomas Jefferson in 1776. Next week, students will finalize their personal Declaration of Independence and move forward discovering how our governmental system works. The math assessment planned for 2/27 has been moved to next Thursday, March 5 and will be primarily on adding/subtracting and decomposing fractions. If you enter the term 4.NF.3 into google search you will find various resources. Students will have their Unit 2 Lesson 2 exam on Tuesday, March 3, and can use their workbook lesson check and roundup to help prepare. We are discussing “Stay Drug Free! Build Your Assets” Health.

PE - Weekly review
Dear Parents and Guardians, This week in P.E. the younger grades (K-2) were learning about chasing and fleeing and developing their own strategies on the best ways to accomplish both. They played a fun round of "noodle tag." The older grades (3-5) were also applying strategies to their games. *********** I am no longer accepting admissions to my Group Fun club as it is already over capacity at this time, sorry for the inconvenience*********************
