Students Live What They Learn
|
If we focus on curriculum and instruction, our scholars will be successful and stay on track for college and career. Our students also learn a lot from the extra curriculum activities that are offered at school and outside of school. All of these are important to help students become well-rounded individuals. There is also the hidden curriculum that includes the values, norms, and beliefs that may impact learning. Therefore, as stakeholders of our students' learning, let us be mindful of our conversations and our attitudes. Our scholars are looking and listening. What our scholars hear and see should be positive and worthy of being emulated.
Thank you for impacting learning each and every day.
L. Watkis (Assistant Principal)

Updates from the Art Room!
|
In the last couple of weeks, our Kindergarteners finished their abstract flower shapes (pictured are works from Demilade and Naevia) and they also did some awesome action paintings (pictured is Aubree from Ms. Herbert's class)! The first graders self critiqued their line landscapes and then they started a simple positive and negative space activity. The second graders are finishing up their monsters (Ms. Fleet and Ms. McDonagh's classes are pictured) and the third grade is done with their complementary color object drawings (pictured is Sloan Buckner). Fourth grade is all done with their waves and fifth grade is done with their own monsters!
Let's get creative!

Did anyone say VACATION!!!!! I think the kids feel it too?
This week students have been working hard on decomposing numbers 1-10. Ask them how anyways they can take apart a number. In ELA students are learning how to make lists. They are experiencing books that show different ways to make lists. They have worked or will work on adding a new page to a poem. They are very excited about this. Also, we started a new unit in science about force and motion. Students have been doing small experiments with pushing and pulling. They have had a lot of fun with this.
We are working hard with helping students to make good choices. Many are beginning to push limits and suffering consequences for their actions. We are all looking forward to the upcoming break.
Please continue to work on the homework. The family trees are due on Monday 11/25.
Thanks for all your help and support.
