You will get the clubs list soon, hopefully, by next week. Please check your emails and our WEB page for more information about the clubs and registration procedures. Have a great weekend!

News for You
Arrival and Dismissal ParentsGuardians, Please adhere to the arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure that you and our students are safe. Do's Do take our scholars to school every single day. Do take them in even if you will be late Do drive around through the dismissal lines. Do follow the procedures and the adults who are in charge. Do follow the direction of the officers on duty. Do allow your child to enter and be seated before trying to drive off. Do Not's Do not leave your vehicle unless you are in a parking space Do Not encourage your children to come to your vehicle without an adult taking him/her. Do Not park on the road and send our scholars by themselves to enter through the busy exit gate. Do Not try to enter the office before 8:00 AM. Do Not come in for Early Dismissal after 1:30 PM. We are beginning incentives for students who are here at school every day. Sponsors of clubs are interested to work with students who are serious about consistent attendance. Dismissal and arrival take place on CMIT grounds. We need your HELP!!! (Am I shouting loud enough?) Send students to school -Our school will be severely affected if our students are NOT in school. Additionally, they are missing important skills in the mornings. Missing days lead to missed opportunities for a good grade. Perfect attendance counts at CMIT Elementary South. Congrats to all the fabulous parents who are always doing.

Week Three
Hello from the Art room! This week our fifth grade artists sketched out an imaginary monster after choosing one verb, one body type, 1 adjective, two colors, and two body features at random, third grade started their sketchbook covers, second grade drew a household object four times for forty five seconds each, and kindergarten learned about a bunch of different types of lines! All this week was sketching so our local artist have their visions down on paper, but next week is when the final products begin! Let's get creative!

Second Grade Tigers
Hello parents! We are so excited that second grade has finished their MAP- R testing. Scores will be provided, sent home, and further discussed during Parent-Teacher Conferences in November. We want you to give a huge welcome to the newest edition to the second-grade team, Ms. Damili Lambert. She will post her biography in the next newsletter. She is active on our classdojo and will be free to answer any questions. With the recent change in weather, we are asking that all students come to school with a sweater or a jacket to keep warm while playing outside on the playground. We are still in short supply of Lysol spray and would like to keep the classroom happy and healthy during the upcoming fall season. Please continue to donate to our classrooms so that the students will have abundant supplies.

Kindergarten Beginnings
What a week! Our students have been very busy this week. Many of you know that we have started our Kindergarten Readiness Assessment this week. We will continue this next week. Ask your student about it. We have been working on the sight words "I" and "can". Students are recognizing 2D and 3D shapes. Students are getting more and more comfortable with the school, routine and friends. We are seeing their personalities shine. We are working hard on getting our first field trip set up. We will have more opportunities throughout the year to volunteer as chaperones and classroom volunteers. Please let your child's teacher know if you are interested in coming in to help in anyway, help laminate, read a book, help with small groups, etc. If you have any concerns please dojo your child's teachers. Hope you have a great weekend!

Technology Class
Greetings Parents/ Guardians, This week I gave students two website links to practice different skills. K-2 students will develop mouse skills such as pointing, clicking, double-clicking, and dragging while practicing counting, as well as matching shapes and colors. You can click the following link to practice at home: http://www.abcya.com 3-5 students learned how to place hands on keyboard and practice typing certain letters. Focus on typing accuracy and correct finger placement, not speed. Speed will be acquired naturally over time in the future months and years of typing lessons. www.typing.com Grading Assignments will be graded based on participation and effort during the class assignments. Thank you, Mrs. AK

Happening's In Libebe's First
Happy Friday! Students covered so many things this week and I'm so proud. In Math, we've been exploring how to represent numbers with base ten blocks and how to solve addition and subtraction word problems. (1.OA.A.1) In RELA, we learned the short a and short I sound and the students had so much fun discovering how many words had those sounds. In Social Studies we're learning the importance of rules both at school and at home; and in science, we're learning the 5 senses and what makes a scientist! Thank you all for your support and for floating through our little hiccups and we sort things out for the rest of the year. Your patience is truly appreciated.

We are also learning how to write personal narratives. Math - We have continued learning about place value, as well as using different strategies to solve part-pet-whole word problems. The strategies taught include base ten blocks, number lines, and ten frames! Science - Students are continuing to learn about engineering and how engineers solve problems! We even sketched models of machines used to untangle headphones! Social Studies - We are continuing to learn about rules, responsibilities, and citizenship in a community! Have a wonderful weekend!

3rd Grade Greatness
A busy third week in third grade! This week students worked hard on completing many mandatory test for the county and state. Students worked hard and completed the MAP R Test this week! In math, we continued working on rounding to the nearest tenth and hundredth place. We have started to dip into adding and subtracting with 1,000. Students are doing well on this! Students have also been “challenged” on this topic on Prodigy. Please encourage your student to “play” this math game as it is not only fun but educational and allows us to see into their understanding on specific topics. In science, we also began talking about being scientist and engineers! We are looking forward to growing into the best scientist this year! Lastly, in RELA and Social Studies please remember students should have three notebooks. Also, another great habit to get into early in the year is to read nightly! Thanks for all you do in supporting your scholar!
