Welcome Back!
August 8, 2019 CMIT Parents, Welcome! I take great pleasure in welcoming our new parents and of course our returning parents. Last school year, parental support was outstanding. Most of you went above and beyond to ensure that our staff and scholars were supported in many different ways, too numerous to mention. I commend you for your dedication, and I look forward to the amazing initiatives you will adopt and support this year that will impact student achievement. Visitation: Visiting the school and participating in all activities are encouraged. The following activities are scheduled:- Kindergarten Orientation will take place on Thursday, August 29 @ 1-2PM. “Meet and Greet” Thursday, August 29, new and returning students may visit to meet/greet teachers and drop off school supplies. Please see the times below:- 1st Grade-8:25-9:05 2nd Grade + families with multiple grades-9:20-9:50 3rd-5th Grade-10-10:30 NB. Please adhere to the above times as parking is limited. 3. 1st day of school is on Tuesday, September 3 4. Back to School Night is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th at 5:45 -7:30 PM. Uniform: CMIT is a uniformed school and we strive to be on time, all the time. Please support students as they learn how to take TIGER pride in wearing their uniform, and in coming to school each and every day on time. All schools will be evaluated on student success as well as student attendance. Therefore, we will need your support to get students here on time, and please take them every day. Student Conduct: The success of any school is dependent on several variables. According to research literature, student behavior helps to determine the success or failure of our schools. Please reinforce school and class rules, and remind students to follow all of them. This is necessary as we try to make a difference in providing a safe and supportive environment for them to be outstanding scholars. The PGCPS student code of conduct will be shared via a link. Please familiarize yourselves with the tenets of the document and support your children to exemplify the positive behavior that they are learning at home. Communication: Finally, Please keep the lines of communication open: Join your teachers on Class Dojo and please read the weekly school newsletters. Teachers will also communicate with you through email or other preferred means. Of course, correspondence through notes is also acceptable. Whatever is decided on, please communicate to stay informed. Additionally, the parent handbook will be shared with you. as well-once it’s been made available, please read and share important information with students. Parking: Please make a note of how and where you park. Looking forward to a very successful school year! Sincerely, Mrs. L. Watkis (Assistant Principal). Open for edits 1.
