Important News
and Finally.....
Parents/Guardians, We all did it together! Everyone had a role to play. We have completed our first school year at our fabulous CMIT Elementary Charter School in the South. Moving forward, there is only one way to go and that’s up. And we will, if parents, students, and teachers play a definitive role in helping to build and sustain a positive school culture and climate. With that said, teachers and the PTO will need you next school year to help with initiatives that will help our school grow. I know that often our dreams and aspirations take us on another path; therefore, if you will not return next year, I would like to wish you all the best as you embark on yet another journey. But remember, whatever paths we take, we must strive to embrace diversity and always pursue learning something new. As you go through these long weeks of summer, please encourage and support reading for pleasure. I know that our scholars love technology a great deal, so use this to their advantage- have them download the books and read them online (that’s technology time if they ask:). Have a very productive and safe summer! So long- Ms. Watkis

A Thank You
Greetings Parents, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support this school year. It was a pleasure partnering with parents who wanted to assist rather than only hearing from them when they wanted to express a concern. As a parent, you want to hear when your child is doing well, not just when there is a concern. In the spirit of humanity, I want to thank all the parents who understand that balance, because of you, we will grow and become what we intend to be-the academic jewel of the south in Prince George's County.

Have a fun and active summer !!!!
Dear Parents/Guardians and students, I hope everyone enjoyed their end-of-the-year field day experience and had some lasting memories ! I have countless great memories from all the lessons and experiences throughout the many units that were covered in PE this year. I will be returning next year and bringing with me new and exciting games to build on the prior knowledge we touched upon this year. Please remember to allow your children to play outside and get as much physical activity as they can as kids need a minimum of 1 hour of rigorous activity each and every day. I will be offering the same 2 clubs next year to grades K-5. Sports Mix will be in the second half the year for grades 3-5 and Group Fun will be offered starting in the fall to grades K-2. Sign ups will be announced through the CMIT newsletter. Enjoy the summer break !

Hello everyone! Big thanks to all the amazing memories and support from parents, staff and students. I have learned so much from being here at CMIT South Elementary School. Thank you for the students who made me a better teacher. This year was filled with outstanding artwork and creative thinking. As many of you know, I will not be teaching here next year. I wish all of you the best of luck and happiness in your years to come at CMIT South. Have a wonderful summer! I will keep you in my memories!

End of the year message
As the year comes to a close, I must say that this year was amazing! I truly enjoyed being your teacher and role model. It was a joy to watch you grow and express yourselves each day. It is now your turn to show off what you have learned next year in 3rd grade. Remember that you are brave, you are independent thinkers, and you are stars! I am so very proud of you. I hope that your summer is as awesome as you are. I love you all. Return to school ready to rediscover learning in a new way. PS. Parents thank you so much for all of your support, kindness, adoration, and trust. It would not be possible without your cooperation. You helped where you could, stepped up to give breaks for the teachers, and showered us with more love than you know. I am so grateful for you. You have left big shoes to fill for next year. I love you all.

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS !!!!
Dear volunteers of field day, I would like to throw a tremendous thank you out to every single parent, grandparent, child or family member who was willing to donate their time to make field day an indoor success ! Every station was run better than I hoped and able to adjust to the space constrictions. I had a great time jumping on tug-of-war among all the other games and I really appreciate the effort everyone added to the stations to get the kids even more excited ! Thank you again and we will have a rain date added to our plans for next year so we can enjoy the weather and outdoor space. Enjoy the summer !!!

The Counselor's Den
Farewell
Farewell Thee CMIT South Family This last newsletter is bittersweet for me! As this school year ends, so does my time as a Professional School Counselor. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for trusting CMIT South with your precious gems. It was truly a pleasure assisting in the grown and development of your scholars. I wish you well! Remember to enjoy all the changes and growth of your scholars. For my kindergarten parents watching your scholars transformation and growth has been an amazing experience for me. Continue to let them shine and be their authentic self. To all other parents watching your scholars transition to a new school and maintained success was awesome. Remember to take time to enjoy quality and quantity time. I wish you a safe and awesome summer.
