Teachers are APPRECIATED
|
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. As an instructional leader, I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to thank our teachers for their continued hard work and determination. As well, I cannot thank the parents enough for their intervention in making next week a one where teachers are celebrated, embraced, and recognized for the work they have completed all year long. Such gestures are in alignment with our goal to develop parent and community partnerships for the betterment of our future community. Let us rally together and send spirals of positive synergy to those who rarely are told what they are doing well but are always told what they are not doing.

Nursing Corner
|
Dear Parents and Staff:
Beginning the week of May 5th, 2019, I will be off campus every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Office of School Health and I are diligently working to provide coverage on these days. In the interim, I have delegated nursing duties to certain support staff members on campus. They will be assisting during the days of my absence. Instructors, I have placed packages of bandaids in each of your mailboxes to last thru the end of the school year. It has been a PLEASURE, serving our Lions, and being a part of the CLF Community of Excellence. Please remind our children to wash their hands, FREQUENTLY, tie their shoes, and maintain safety, while enjoying outside activities in this gorgeous weather.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Art
|
Hello Parents! This week in art class, students have been having some fun with the new Hot Air Balloon unit! Kindergarten and 1st grade has had the chance to create some beautiful watercolor paintings on coffee filters. The one-of-a-kind blend of paint colors will be used to cut a shape of a hot air balloon. This will later be adhered to blue paper where students will add details to depict the appearance of a hot air balloon.
Parents, thank you so much for all the card board tube donations! I have collected much more than I anticipated. At this point, there is no need to bring in any more.

P.E. Review - Last week of testing !!!
|
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We made it through to the last week of testing which means the CARTS schedule goes back to its normal 45 minute period and in P.E., we will continue with the normal curriculum. This week we reviewed communication and working together as a team as these are crucial to many aspects of life, work and play. The 3 stages of communication we reviewed are; 1. Sending out the message 2. Receiving the message 3. Acknowledging / responding to message. We touched upon the 5 different forms of communication as well ( for grades 3-5 ). Body language, sign language, written language, verbal and non verbal communication. For teamwork we discussed the importance of playing as a team and why sports teams have 5-11 players on the field. Everyone contributes and helps to score. Its all about WE not ME is the phrase I had them recite.
Keep your eyes and ears open for announcements about Field Day on June 13 !!!
Sincerely,
Garrett Loomer
