P.E. - Week review and Teacher vs. Student game to come !!!!
|
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week we took it easy on the curriculum and just reviewed previously learned material, but with new games. We reviewed spatial awareness and changing direction ( which are two big skills in any activity ) I chose to make this week a stress-free week since we have started testing our 3-5 graders.
COMING SOON !!!!! Teacher vs. Student basketball or dodgeball game.
Students must have no PS-74 referrals or slip in classwork during testing time and must be elected by their teacher to participate in the activity from grades 3-5.
Only parents/families of those invited to participate may attend the event.

Spring Break by Mr. Hawkins class
|
Happy spring break everyone! Here is the Reggae song that Mr. Hawkins class came up with in celebration of our days off.
Spring break is here, so there's no school
I just might go to the beach or maybe the pool
I'm going to stay at home, watch TV and play 2k
While I listen to Reggae
All of my homework is in the past
I get a break from all my teachers and even my class
I'm going to travel all around the world
Don't remind me of school or I just might hurl

Happening's in Libebe's Fifth
|
Happy Friday! This week in Math we started covering a new standard CCSS.MATH.5.MD.C.3. and reviewed concepts of area and perimeter. We will continue this discussion after Spring Break. Speaking of Spring Break! Enrichment packets have gone home and these are extra credit, if your child misplaces it they can be found at https://www.pgcps.org/springpackets/ Please encourage your scholars to practice at home using the following websites zearn.com, khanacademy, and prodigy.com. Students only receive a few hours a day on each subject. If we consider how many hours they will need to master the concepts that will be covered on the state testing, then it will be essential, for students to practice at home as well.
Thank you once again for all of your support and have a wonderful Spring Break!
-Ms. Libebe

4th & 5th Grade Art
|
Hello! Recently in Art class, 4th and 5th grade students have started a new unit. We have been learning different shading techniques and drawing contour lines. Students have been practicing these different drawing techniques in order to build on their drawing skills. When we return from Spring Break, we will begin drawing an imaginary hybrid create. Students were asked to bring in a picture of two different animals. The pictures will be used as a reference for designing their hybrid creature.
Parents, please be sure that you child brings in their homework after the break. They will need pictures to look at in order to draw their creatures.
Thank you to all parents who have helped collect paper towel and toilet paper tubes! I have received so many!! I will no longer be collecting tubes at this time.
I hope you all have an amazing Spring Break!

Have You Signed Up For MakerFEST 2019?! ***REGISTER TODAY!***
|
Held on the first Saturday in May, this will be the 3rd Annual MakerFEST, CLF's yearly STEAM Festival celebrating our community's inner genius! CLF schools are now eight programs and six institutions across the State of Maryland serving over 3,200 students K-12! MakerFEST invites these students to participate with staff, parents and our wider CLF STEM community partners to feel encouraged to exhibit and enjoy all the day's inventions, artwork, personal projects, experiments, robots, wild creations, noble attempts, fine solutions to typical problems, and makers making so much more!
CLF will also have volunteer opportunities available for anyone who wants to help build the best MakerFEST ever!
To register for an exhibition space visit
https://www.clfadvancedstudies.org/makerfest
For volunteer opportunities visit

This year, the first Saturday in May happens to coincide with May 4th, often celebrated by fans of the widely popular Star Wars franchise.
We fundamentally feel obligated since astronomy, space exploration fit all too well into the MakerFEST concept, so Community Partnerships is also encouraging all exhibitors to share their project progress with @CLF_CLF on twitter or @ChesapeakeLighthouseFoundation on Facebook with the hashtag #MayTheFourthBuildWithYou.
Until next update, May The Fourth Be With You!

Announcements & Reminders

PLEASE EMAIL YOUR CARTS TEACHERS DIRECTLY
|
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I have received multiple reports from classroom teachers that parents are contacting them about what is happening or the status of their child while in CARTS ( specials ) classes. The classroom teachers are not present and can only speculate as to what might have happened based on reports from other students or the CART teacher.
Please contact the specific CART teacher you have a question for and ask them directly because they will know best how to respond and report about what truly happened.

Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated every year during the first week of May. This year Teacher Appreciation Week “TAW” is May 6-10, 2019. The theme this year will be, “Teachers, Our Super Heroes”. A super hero is someone who gives selflessly and is always willing to help others. Our students are lucky to have such great teachers and we would like to acknowledge them during TAW.
