Aloha Second Grade!
|
Thank you for an amazing school year! We feel so fortunate to have been your second grade team!
This summer, be sure to avoid the summer slide by staying engaged. Students should read, out loud, daily, for at least 20 minutes. Be sure to ask questions about what they have read. Reading out loud builds fluency and discussing reading builds comprehension. You can also build writing stamina by connecting thinking to writing. Students can take time to write about what they have read. You can also build writing stamina by incorporating fun writing activities; write a letter to a friend, keep a summer journal about your adventures, help to make a grocery list, etc.
Remember, students have access to the following applications that are geared toward their individual needs:
-Dreambox
-iReady
-Lexia
-XtraMath
-IXL
Most importantly, take time this summer to rest, relax, and recharge! Third grade will be here before you know it.
Have a safe summer!

Fabulous Fourth Grade
|
Greetings Tiger Family,
It has been one exciting year full of transformation and adjustment. We are so proud of all the hard work that was shown by our scholars this school year. We also want to thank all of our parents and guardians who supported us throughout the school year. It has been our pleasure to work with your scholars this year. There has been noticeable growth shown by our scholars and we hope that you are able to see the changes in them. All grades have been submitted and you can view them through Schoolmax.
During the summer students will still have access to IXL and i-Ready. We ask that they try to utilize these programs daily throughout the summer. This will help students avoid the "summer slump" that many experience from having so many days off from school. A suggestion could be have students spend 30 minutes practicing math and reading each day. The Prince George's County Memorial Library has programs for students please check out the information here: https://www.pgcmls.info/summer .
A summer enrichment packet has been provided by the county for students to complete throughout the summer as well. Please use this link https://www.pgcps.org/offices/curriculum-and-instruction/summer-programs to access all the summer offerings from the county such as tutoring, televised lessons, enrichment packets and more!
Please have a safe and fun summer,
Educationally Yours,
Fourth Grade Team

CMIT South Elementary Scholars completed a successfull and busy School year with various tests.
Now they deserve a break.
Ivy League Colleges looking for students who utilize their breaks meaningfully.
To be able to use the summer break meaningfully, we need to plan ahead our summer.
According to the researchers, after physical activities those may be exercising, sports, walking, jogging, playing outside, etc. learners' focus to learn new things increase.
Dear parents, help our scholars have an active summer.
Daily 30 minutes reading activities or other types of academic activities may be placed in between other physical activities and games.

Summer Reading is Fun!
|
Parents/Guardians,
Summer is here, and this means delving into great books.
Please encourage and support your child to choose books that they can read. After reading, they should write about what they read and share it with family and friends.
Visit this website: https://www.readingrockets.org/article/selecting-books-your-child-finding-just-right-books
-to read about:
1. Five Finger Rule for choosing a book
2. Choosing a book that is a good fit
3. Checking if the book is too difficult for the reader
4. Tips for reading with your child
Have a GREAT summer full of exciting memories of the books that were read.
Respectfully,
L. Watkis (Assistant Principal)
