Our first, annual, Vocabulary Parade will be on Friday, May 6, 2022! Flyers have been sent home to all families. Students will choose a vocabulary word from a list provided by each homeroom teacher. Once a word has been chosen, students should determine the most creative way to represent their words. Students can make a costume, hat, or poster. Please be sure to include a large card, or sign, with the vocabulary word and definition. We are so excited to see academic vocabulary words come to life! HAVE FUN!

Hello Amazing 2nd Grade Supporters! We're coming up fast and furiously on the end of the school year and it will be here before you know it! We have a few important things coming up that we wanted to remind you about. 1. MAP testing will take place next week on Tuesday (Reading) and Wednesday (Math). Please make sure you send students with a charged chromebook, headphones, and their chargers (just in case). Try to make sure they get a good night's sleep before we test as it definitely shows up on their test scores! 2. Monthly STEAM projects are due on Monday, May 2nd, so you only have 2 more weekends to get it finished! 3. MCAP Spirit week is also this upcoming week. Please see Class Dojo for the daily rundown of what we are doing to get in the MCAP spirit to support our awesome 3rd through 5th graders! Dear Tiger Family, In this coming week, week of April 26, we will administer the Spring MAP Growth Tests in Math and in ELA (English language Arts). CMIT South Elementary implements MAP Growth Tests three times throughout the year for most of the students. CMIT South Elementary staff use the MAP Growth Scores to check student progress and to implement additional strategies accordingly. Hi everyone! Welcome back from Spring Break! We are continuing to prep for the MCAP coming up very soon! Students should be practicing the Quizlet vocabulary words as well as the practice tests online to help prepare for the test. We are doing lots of practice in the classroom, but it would be beneficial for students to continue practicing at home as well. We also have the spring term of the MAP assessments coming up NEXT WEEK on Tuesday and Wednesday! Make sure students are on time with charged chromebooks on the testing days. Let's make sure we continue to check Canvas daily so we can keep up with all of our work for the fourth quarter! Next week is also MCAP SPIRIT WEEK! Please make sure to follow the theme of each day: Monday - Wear HATS to school! Tuesday - Color wars - wear RED Wednesday - Wear WORKOUT clothes Thursday - Wear PJS Friday - Wear CAMOFLAUGE We are at the point in the year where school supplies are low and we are running out of cleaning wipes. If anyone would like to donate cleaning wipes, we would greatly appreciate it! Also, students have been coming to school without pencils, so please make sure your child comes to school prepared with all of their own supplies! Parents/Guardians, MCAP begins on May 9. Please support ALL our scholars to be ready by: 1. Ensuring they go to bed early to get a good night's rest. 2. Waking up early and eating a balanced breakfast meal. (School breakfast ends at 8:00) 3. Attending school on time to avoid late scholar anxieties. 4. Talk about anxieties (if necessary) and help students get over them the best way that you can.
