Preparation for State Tests.
|
Parents/Guardians,
About two weeks ago, the school teams shared via Zoom workshops a variety of ways to prepare for the upcoming MCAP examination. Many parents attended and benefited from learning how students will solve for correct answers in math and reading.
What is also important is motivation.
Encourage and support students to:-
-read independently,
-review daily work when they reach home,
-and to do further research on the skills they are learning in these core subjects.
Encourage your child to set a goal each week on what they will work on, and also to set an amount of time to spend on studying. This is good practice as they matriculate through grades and become college and career ready. The time to start is now.
If you have not already done so, please check out this opportunity for our scholars. This is a great chance especially for 3rd-5th grade students to improve their math and reading skills as they prepare for sitting the MAP in the spring.

2nd Grade Updates!
|
Hello Awesome Tigers!
Spring break is quickly upon us and third quarter is wrapping up this week! Please make sure you are checking SchoolMAX and communicating with teachers. The STEAM instruments project from March was incredible and we are going to be displaying our projects in the cafeteria for the whole school to be inspired by our creativity!
In Reading, we will be jumping into Unit 5 with our unit about being good citizens! Our essential question for the week is, "What do good citizens do?" and we will be reading about different citizens who contributed something great to society!
In Math, we will be continuing to work with numbers up to 1000. Students should be fluent with adding and subtracting up to 100 by now. A way to support this at home would be to create flash cards and drill your student or just asking them addition and subtraction questions to strengthen their fluency with mental math strategies.
In Science, classes are working to wrap up our unit on Matter hopefully before break. Be on the look out for dojo posts about unit assessments coming up either before break or shortly after!
In Social Studies, we are finishing up our unit on past and present changes in the United States. Students should be able to compare and contrast life in the US now and life in the US in the past with specific details from both the past and present.
In Health, we will be wrapping up our month's unit on doing healthy things for our body. Be on the look out for an announcement of an assessment from your teacher on Class Dojo.
Let's crush this last week before break and come back refreshed and ready to learn!
Just a heads up, April 26-27 is MAP testing. Students can work on skills for MAP on iXL over break.
