Celebrating Women
|
As women, we have come a long way.
But there is still more work to be done. Women today have to work two jobs to make ends meet. We also have to compete for competitive jobs and salaries afforded to men, who at times have less qualification for the same position.
Despite the setbacks, we still persevere.
So, during this month of March, think about how far we have come, and make plans for improvement. There is always room for growth and development. Is there a new skill that you would like to learn-why wait?
Yours Respectfully,
Ms. Watkis

Please join teachers and leadership teams as we meet with you to share valuable information and resources for Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP).
It is important that students begin to practice skills at home, doing extra reading, and getting enough rest.

2nd Grade Updates!
|
Hello Incredible Second Grade Families!
We are already halfway through 3rd Quarter! Can you believe it!!!! We definitely can't! Progress report grades are up and should be accessible via SchoolMAX!
We have some fun activities planned this week for Pi day (Monday, 3/14) and St. Patrick's Day (Wednesday). If you are looking to make any donations, we could use some thermal lamination sheets and a variety of colored card stock for the activities.
In Math, each class will be starting a new topic this upcoming week. Some classes are start on numbers larger than 1000 and others are moving on to adding within 1000.
In Reading, we will be continuing with the curriculum on Unit 4 Week 3. Be sure to remind your scholars to bring their spelling journals home each night, as this is where their spelling and vocabulary words will be found.
In Science, classes are wrapping up our unit on how the earth changes, so keep an eye on the Class Story on Dojo for a test or quiz announcement for later this week.
In Social Studies, we are plugging along with differences between the past and present of the united states. Students should be able to describe differences between life in colonial and developing America and life today in America by the end of this unit.
Please be sure to send your scholars to school with all of their necessities for class. This includes pencils, glue, crayons, and scissors. We have class resources, but they are running low because students are "borrowing" our resources and not returning them at the end of the day!
Thank you for all that you do!

3rd Grade Updates!
|
Hi everyone! We are already half way through the third quarter, time is flying!
We are learning about many different influential people for Women's History Month in our classes! We have been enjoying reading biographies about women of all different professions who changed the world today.
Let's make sure we continue to check Canvas daily so we can keep up with all of our work for the third quarter!
We are at the point in the year where school supplies are low and we are running out of cleaning wipes. If anyone would like to donate cleaning wipes, we would greatly appreciate it! Also, students have been coming to school without pencils, so please make sure your child comes to school prepared with all of their own supplies!
Please use our Google Site as it has many helpful resources for you all! There is a weekly assignment breakdown that can help parents keep up with students' assignments, a grade level newsletter, and many other important resources. Here's the link to our google site:

PTO Meeting
|
Parents/Guardians,
It was great speaking with you last Wednesday at the PTO meeting.
As we see and read about the gaps across the educational landscape, we recognize that we have work to do. As an educator, I know that the work is always more meaningful when parents and teachers work closely together to motivate and educate our scholars.
I applaud you for your resilience and continued support as we work to support students in these challenging times.
Please know that our leadership teams and teachers are working assiduously to teach concepts and skills to support and meet learners where they are on the learning curve.
Thanks for partnering with CMIT Elementary Charter School.
We value and appreciate you.
Respectfully,
L. Watkis (Assistant Principal)
