2nd Grade Updates and Reminders!
Hello Terrific Tiger 2nd Grade Parents and Guardians! Just a few reminders and updates heading into this week. There is no school for students on Monday or Tuesday because of President's Day and Conferences. Students are encouraged to coordinate with a classmate to dress as a twin on Wednesday as we celebrate Twosday (Tuesday, 2/22/22) on Wednesday since we will be out of school on the actual Twosday. If you have not reached out to your student's teacher yet about their selection for the Black History Month project, please reach out to let us know that you have made a selection. We just want to make sure it is on your radar so you don't have to stress next weekend. In reading, we will be taking this short week to review Unit 3 before we move along to Unit 4 next week. We will be working on answering questions such as who, what, when, where, and how to determine key details and main idea of stories and passages. In math, most classes are finishing up subtraction and moving along to numbers larger than 1000. The introduction to this unit will include work involving place value and comparing numbers greater than 1000. In social studies, we will be continuing on in our Black History Month leaders to learn about Thurgood Marshall as well as Ruby Bridges. Both leaders drastically shaped our country and helped the United States to be a better, more equitable place for all peoples. In science, we will be finishing up changes to the earth's surface before moving into the states of matter. Students should be able to describe the effects of natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, tidal waves, tornadoes, and blizzards as well as weathering and erosion upon completion of this unit.

3rd Grade Updates!
Hi everyone! We had so much fun celebrating Valentine's Day on Monday and we are so thankful for how many students participated and brought in treats for the whole class! We are still learning about many different influential people for Black History Month in our classes! We have been enjoying reading biographies about people of all different professions who changed the world today! We also took our winter term of the MAP assessments this week so students should be coming home with scores for both math and reading. If you do not receive scores, please reach out to your child's teachers. Reminder that Monday, there is NO SCHOOL due to Presidents Day, and Tuesday, there is NO SCHOOL for students due to parent-teacher conferences. This is only a half day for teachers so please be aware that there will be limited spots available. Contact your teachers to set up a meeting for Tuesday if you feel that it is necessary! Let's make sure we continue to check Canvas daily so we can keep up with all of our work for the third quarter! Please use our Google Site as it has many helpful resources for you all! There is a weekly assignment breakdown that can help parents keep up with students' assignments, a grade level newsletter, and many other important resources. Here's the link to our google site: https://sites.google.com/pgcps.org/3rdgradeclasssite From your 3rd Grade Team! :)
