2nd Grade Updates
Can you believe we are already halfway through the school year! It has been flying by! This week, we are super excited to welcome Mrs. Boggess' class back in person! It will be an adjustment, but we know that all of our 2nd grade friends and families are up to the challenge! Mrs. Boggess' friends will be getting readjusted to the school building and learning the ins and outs of the classroom as well as our school procedures for things like walking in the hallway, bathroom etiquette, and expectations around the building. We are taking a pause from the Wonders curriculum this week to kick off black history month as well as celebrate World Read Aloud (the first Wednesday in February) with some live, virtual programs and guests. We will be resuming with Unit 3, week 4 the second week of February. In social studies, we are taking a look at the similarities and differences between life in the present and life in the past. Our focus skill in this unit is comparing and contrasting. In science, we are continuing with Unit 5 continuing to work on changes that happen to the Earth's surface. Student will be investigating changes that happen to the Earth quickly like volcanoes and earthquakes!

3rd Grade Updates!
Hi everyone! We are so happy to be welcoming our virtual students from Mrs. Mathews' class back in the building this upcoming week! We can't wait to have you walking up and down the halls everyday! The second quarter is just ending and all late assignments were due this week. Let's make sure we continue to check Canvas daily so we can keep up with all of our work for the third quarter! This upcoming week, we are starting a new month! We are now entering February which is also Black History Month! We will be learning about different influential people throughout the month and discussing the importance of Black History. We will also be taking our winter term of the MAP assessments soon so students should be prepared to be on time for school on those days. The tests will be the second week of February. Please use our Google Site as it has many helpful resources for you all! There is a weekly assignment breakdown that can help parents keep up with students' assignments, a grade level newsletter, and many other important resources. Here's the link to our google site: https://sites.google.com/pgcps.org/3rdgradeclasssite From your 3rd Grade Team! :)

Hello Parents! February is Black History Month. This year CMIT South Elementary's Theme for Black History Month is THE COOKOUT. African Americans coined the term "invited to the cookout" as a phrase that represents a metaphorical gathering of African Americans and those who love and support African Americans. We are inviting all of you to THE COOKOUT. If a student does not participate they must come to school in uniform. Ms. Chandler (Professional School Counselor).
