Hello Fantastic Second Grade Families!
First off, we want to thank everyone as a team for being flexible and making the last-minute switch to distance learning on Thursday because of the weather. The transition was seamless and that's in no small part to the support that we receive from our partners at home, so thank you!
This week in Math, we will be looking at telling time down to 5-minute increments and continuing to work on our addition fluency for sums within 100.
In Social Studies, we will be continuing in our Chapter 5 unit titled "Our Nation, Past and Present." Throughout this unit, students will be learning about the history of our nation and working on the skill of comparing and contrasting the American experience now versus at different times throughout American history.
In Science, we will be wrapping up looking at how the Earth changes and how those changes can happen quickly or slowly. We have covered weathering and erosion, natural disasters, and acts of nature that all change the earth's surface. We have also touched on how humans can change their habitats and how the Earth has changed humans.
In Reading, we will move onto Unit 3, Week 3. The Essential Question this week is, "How can people help out their community?" The spelling and vocabulary words are listed below. Students should expect a spelling and vocabulary test on Friday this upcoming week. We will test last week's words on Monday of the upcoming week because of the holiday last week.
