Snapshots from the Inside-
|
Parents/Guardians,
Just in case you were wondering. What is life like on the inside? This week I saw a parent watching her child as she walked down the blue hallway to her KDG class. The mother told me that she has not been back inside our building since the walkthrough. For many of you, I bet you feel a longing to be back with us. Hopefully, it may be soon.
So, from school to home, here are a few snapshots...
Please take care and know that we miss you too.
Respectfully,
Ms. Watkis

Fabulous Fourth Grade

Seasons Greetings to you all. May you have a restful and peaceful winter break. Thursday December 23, 2021 will have a 3 hour early dismissal. Winter Break December 24- January 2, 2021. Teachers will be unavailable at this time. All emails and messages will be returned once Winter Break is over.
Reading: This week we began our new story in Unit 2 of Adaptations. In the story “Animal Mimics” students are learning about how different creatures use mimicry to stay safe from predators. Students have begun reading closely to determine causes and effects and to monitor their inner conversations. Next week we will continue to monitor our inner conversations while we read unfamiliar winter texts.
Math: This week has produced great challenges as we’ve begun to discover partial quotients. Next week, we will continue to review this division strategy. Students also took their very first pop quiz As a reminder, Formative Assessment will be given at the end of each Lesson Series within the unit to assess understanding before moving forward with instruction. I encourage you to have students practice and strengthen their multiplication facts. This knowledge will make division easier.
Science- This week we continued learning about rock cycle, rock layers and fossils. We ended our week by making fossils using flour, coffee, coffee grounds and salt.
***STEM FAIR Projects are Due December 22, 2021**
Social Studies- This week in class we began learning about the economy, saving and spending , supply and demand and completed a Nearpod on consumers and producers and research activity where students were asked to research 15 products then identify and compare current sale prices, manufacturers’ cost and major market competitors.
Educationally Yours,
Fourth Grade Team

3rd Grade Updates!
|
Hi everyone! We have made it through all the FULL weeks of December and we are so close to the holiday break! In the upcoming week, we have full days Monday - Wednesday, a 3 hour early dismissal on Thursday, and NO SCHOOL on Friday! I know we've had a rise in Covid cases but we hope you are all staying safe and healthy! If there is anything we can do to help support you all, let us know! IF you are out on quarantine, we miss you and can't wait to see you!
This upcoming week is also HOLIDAY SPIRIT WEEK! The schedule is posted onto Class Dojo and it is listed as follows:
MONDAY - Wear your favorite crocs or holiday socks!
TUESDAY - Wear something white!
WEDNESDAY - Wear your favorite flannel and/or scarf!
THURSDAY - Wear your favorite pajamas or onesie!
Let's all try to participate and get in the school and holiday spirit!
Congrats to all our scholars who received awards at the Honor Roll Assembly on Tuesday, and thank you to all the parents who were able to join virtually! Keep up the great work! If you did not win an award, that's ok! Students will work hard and try their best and they can try to win one in the next quarter!
Progress reports come out BEFORE the holiday break, so students need to make sure all work is done before break! The window for grades closes on December 20 so let’s make sure all work is submitted by then!
Also, the STEM Fair project and research paper are due MONDAY! In person students should be turning the project into Ms. Balogun and the papers to Ms. McDonagh. We will NOT accept anything at all after that, no exceptions. Let’s have a great last short week!
We are doing our best to keep the rooms and desks clean throughout the day so as the holiday season approaches, any cleaning supplies that you would like to donate would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
Please use our Google Site as it has many helpful resources for you all! There is a weekly assignment breakdown that can help parents keep up with students' assignments, a grade level newsletter, and many other important resources. Here's the link to our google site:
