3rd Grade Updates!
|
Hello everyone! We are just about finished with our first quarter of the school year!
We were able to celebrate the pep rally this past Friday and we are so proud of all of our students for working so hard this quarter!
Students should be reading for the Read-a-thon this month! We would really would love all students to participate!
The first quarter is just about over and we are entering all grades into the grade book! The LAST DAY to submit any missing assignments is November 9! After this date, no late assignments will be entered into the grade book, no exceptions. Please be checking Canvas to see what. assignments students still have to complete. Although not. every single assignment on Canvas will be entered into Schoolmax and count toward their final grade, we would really like all students to complete. everything on Canvas as it is a reflection of what we work on in class and we want students to get the extra practice at home.
Please use our Google Site as it has many helpful resources for you all! There is a weekly assignment breakdown that. can help parents keep up with students' assignments. Here's the link to our google site:

Finally, picture day is MONDAY! Students should dress in uniform. If they have the white oxford shirts, that would be great, but if not, their regular uniforms are great! Have a great weekend and we are looking forward to another great week next week!
From your 3rd Grade Team! :)

Let's NOV8 Together!
|
National STEAM Day is November 8, 2021!
Why is S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. so important, now more than ever before?
- S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. is all around us and shapes our everyday experiences
- Of the U.S. Labor Department’s predicted 10 fastest growing occupations, nearly all of them are S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. careers; therefore an interest in S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. early on can lead to success later on in life
- The U.S. has fallen behind other nations in science and math education; we need to motivate young kids to pursue these subjects to keep up with the rest of the world
- We must close the gender gap that exists in S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. related-careers. Building interest in girls is critical to their future earning potential.
HOW TO OBSERVE #STEMSTEAMDay:
You can celebrate National S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M Day by tuning into the Netflix original series Project Mc², or by visiting www.projectmc2.com where you can become an honorary member of NOV8 and go on super-secret spy missions with the Project Mc² characters; McKeyla, Adrienne, Bryden, and Camryn. Use #STEMSTEAMDay to post, #CMITSOUTHELEMENTARY and #ROARTOGETHER on social media.
Also on Netflix, please check out the animated series - Ada Twist Scientist on Netflix. Check out the trailer - https://youtu.be/YTAYcpq3SJY
At CMIT South ES; we will celebrate National STEM Day on November 10, 2021.

Reading for Fun
|
Parents/Guardians,
Reading for fun is a natural activity for many students in elementary grades. So we encourage and support this love through classroom reading, library activities, readathons, book fairs, and much more. However the time they reach middle and high school, many of our students are now absorbed in reading content-related materials and they hardly find the time to read for fun.
Therefore, use this time to read and reread those favorites. Listen to your scholars read and ask questions about the reading. Ask questions such as, What is the story telling us? Where is the story taking place? and Can you identify a problem in the story? This will encourage and sustain a love for reading. You are also building memories and your child will want to hear you read to them time and again.
Many of you are already doing this, and I commend you.
Thank you for keeping the home-school connection going.
