Discovery Days are coming to CMIT South Elementary School!
Beginning on Wednesday September 15th, 2021, and twice a month for the remainder of the school year; our scholars will participate in Discovery Days. Discovery Days are in addition to the quality daily science instruction provided currently. Each teacher will engage the scholars in an inquiry-based lesson that would allow them to investigate and apply their science and engineering competencies! We look forward to the amazing benefit of this intentional focus on S.T.E.A.M. topics and dispositions for our scholars as we continue to build 21st Century Learners and Leaders.

Thank you!

Educators Pursuing National Board Certification
Several of the educators at CMIT South ES are pursuing National Board Certification! Once achieved the educators will be nationally recognized as accomplished educators. Each teacher will submit a portfolio of their instructional practice as well as complete a rigorous content specific assessment. Thank you, CMIT South ES family, in advance for your support of these educators as they engage in developing their instructional practice and improving student achievement!

Grade Level Greatness
3rd Grade News!
Hello everyone! We are just finishing up our first few days in 3rd grade and we could not be more excited for the year to come! It has been so great to see everyone's smiling faces in person this year! We have been taking these first few days to build our classroom community and go over procedures and expectations. We have enjoyed getting to know the students so far and we can't wait to continue building those relationships! For in person students, students should now have a "take home folder" labeled with a sticker on the front. This will be a folder Ms. McDonagh, Ms. Fleet, and Ms. Balogun share to send home any important papers, forms to be filled out, and physical homework assignments for students. These folders should come to and from school everyday! Please make sure to check these folders each night to see if there are any important papers in it. So far, we have sent home a copy of the class schedule, some in class work we have done, and a media release form. Please fill out the media release form and send it back in students' folders as soon as possible. We will be using Canvas this year instead of Google Classroom for all virtual schoolwork and assignments. Both in person and virtual students will use Canvas. We will be teaching students how to use Canvas so we can get started with using it next week! Students have been doing a great job keeping their masks on and washing their hands which we appreciate very much! We have loved being back in the building with students and we are so excited for this new year! Please let us know if you have any questions! From your 3rd Grade Team! :)

Van Dismissals - Location Update
At dismissal, our scholars who ride vans to after school or day care providers will be dismissed from the gymnasium. The after care vans will be parked at the front of the school building. Please remind your children of the name of their providers and that they are to report to the gymnasium at the start of dismissal, so that they can safely and efficiently be escorted to their vans.

THANK YOU!
