Testing and Reporting
|
Hi 5th Grade Scholars and Parents,
There will be Spring Administration of i-Ready Reading Test in this coming week.
i-Ready Reading Test is not for grading. It is to diagnose our scholars' needs.
Dear Parents,
To catch the true needs and real growth of the students, please do not support our students academically during this test.
You can help your students by providing a quiet testing environment.
Dear students get your sleep and have your breakfast before testing.
Enjoy your weekend
Mr. Metin

Attendance
|
Parents/ Guardians,
Please continue to support Regular Attendance as we move fully into the 4th quarter. This is a very important quarter for all students to be in attendance. It is usually a time for teaching the last set of standards for the current grade level, and providing that extra support for students.
Thanks for partnering with our school.
Respectfully,
Attendance Team

Career Day Kudos!
|
Thank you to our TIGER Community!!! Parents thank you for your support students were dressed in possible careers from "Mayors of the World" to Engineers, Artists and Entrepreneurs. The students were well mannered with guests, asked fantastic questions about education, what the speakers were like at their age and do they love what they do. Our staff went above and beyond modeling professional dress and allowing students to enjoy a day of learning about careers in and out of STEM.
We are quickly approaching the end of the school year and have a few more big events. iReady testing is still ongoing along with Spring NWEA Map testing still to come in May. We have only a handful of our monthly pep rallies, 3rd quarter honor roll assembly, Kindergarten virtual promotion and 5th Grade virtual promotion and drive thru pictures. Please make sure your scholar is logging in or in person for Hybrid Instruction on their assigned days for the remainder of the year. If your child has signed up for Hybrid Instruction but has yet to attend in person we invite you to remain in virtual learning for the last six weeks of the school year.
Parents make sure you attend our last PTO meeting on Wednesday May 12th for more up to date information. Let's continue to R.O.A.R together!
Sincerely,
Principal
Ronald A. Miller, Jr.

P.E. Weekly review - Yoga
|
Dear Parents/guardians and students,
This week all grades reviewed the benefits of Yoga and creating flexibility among muscle groups. If your child was not present for class, the lessons can be found on google classroom and they can still get their independent assignment credit for answering the questions after watching the instructional video.
Students for this quarter are earning classwork grades as well as their normal participation grades as they always have. This is to ensure that all students are paying attention to the videos provided while also giving an extra grade for PE besides their once a week grade.

Updates from Ms. James' Art Room!
|
This week was full of still lifes! The Kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders all had to draw a picture of fruits, the fifth graders choose their own compositions. They had to make their drawing look as close to the picture as possible. Shading, details, and everything! The third graders started their Pablo Picasso inspired Cubist self-portraits and the fourth graders made radial designs. You'll see the results in the next PowerPoint display I put up!
Pictured above are some recreations of known art pieces. All three students are from Mr. Rowland's class!
Stay happy, healthy, and creative!
Miss James

2nd Grade Updates!
|
Hello everyone, from the 2nd grade team! Thank you to all presenters who came into our Zooms to speak or created recorded videos for career day! The students enjoyed it very much!
Students are continuing to learn a lot in each subject in our final quarter! In Reading, students are reading about different parts of the world, new vocabulary words, linking verbs, and silent letters! In Social Studies, students are reading chapter 3 from our social studies books about different environments! In Math, students are continuing learning about numbers greater than 100, and in science, students are learning about what plants need to survive!
We will be taking our 3rd and final round of of the MAP assessments coming up in late May, so keep an eye out for information coming soon about exact dates! We are in our last quarter of second grade, so let's keep working hard to achieve our goals! Thank you, and have a great week!!
From your 2nd Grade Team! :)

April Is Done: Kindergarten
|
We are closing out April and we are welcoming May. There is so much happening this coming month so please read Class Dojo, the CLF News Letter and other emails and messages that come. We only have about 30 more days of learning...that's it!
This last week of April we celebrated Career Day. We had a variety of people visit our classrooms with what they do for a living. Students were very respectful and ask thought provoking questions. Students were encouraged to dress in their best as well as in what they wanted to be when they grow up. We had our very own Mayor in class today.
Please be on the lookout for important information. We will be testing in mid-May. Families will be receiving information about our Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony. Students will also be working and celebrating the invasion of the cicadas. It is an exciting month ahead.
Below are the learning standards we will be working on this coming week.
ELA - RF.K.4 Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding.
SCIENCE -
Explore how animals and humans' habitats change the environment
Identify characteristics of a habitat to explain how plants and animals change the environment to meet their basic
MATH - K.MD.1 Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
K.MD.2 Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has “more of”/“less of” the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
SOCIAL STUDIES - Everyone works
HEALTH -
7.E1.a Demonstrate healthy practices and behaviors to maintain or improve personal health.
7.E1.b Demonstrate behaviors that avoid or reduce health risks.
Thank you families for all your support. We greatly appreciate you.
