Virtual and Hybrid Learning for Tiger Scholars
Parents/Guardians, To ALL our wonderful parents and guardians, Spring Break is almost here! As you already know, two forms of learning will be in progress. Some of you opted for Hybrid learning, and many of you decided to continue with virtual learning. Regardless of the choice you made, CMIT staff is here to provide ongoing support to ensure that students are learning each and every day. Communication for school and home is going to be key. Please ensure that your child's teachers will know how they will be picked up from school for the days they are here. Are they going to be picked up by you, or are they going to a after school daycare, and if so, what is the name, phone number and address of this facility. This should take place immediately. Principal Miller has gone over all the necessary information for parents during our last two town hall meetings. Please check the school's web page to get information that you are missing, or check with your child's teacher. Spring Break is Here! Take this time to reflect on how far we have come this past school year. Let us move into the final quarter with even more determination to have ALL scholars present at school. Attendance is very important this last phase of the semester. Please make every effort to send students to school. Thanks for partnering with our school-the BEST school elementary school in Upper Marlboro. Respectfully,

L. Watkis (Assistant Principal)

PE weekly review - PROJECT REMINDER and NEW GRADE POLICY FOR THE YEAR
Dear Parents/guardians and students, I hope everyone enjoyed our lesson this week on dribbling with feet. We learned which parts of the foot to dribble with and which part NOT to along with some beginner level ball-handling tricks to help advance skills in all grades. *********** PROJECT REMINDER ************ Please remember that BOTH projects for K-2 and 3-5 are due TOMORROW, FRIDAY 3/26 with a deadline of 5pm. If projects are turned in late they will receive a late grade. Also, if any sections of the 3 parts that were assigned in the slides are blank it will be a 0, or incomplete will get the good faith grade of 50%. I used examples on the projects, but ESPN is a GREAT website to use for any and all athletes as it covers multiple professional sports AND athletes who are retired from the game or deceased. **********NEW GRADING POLICY ADDED*********** Due to needing more grades per quarter, I have elected to utilize pear deck with each lesson and have the students fulfill a classwork grade for answering questions based on the instruction I give and the tutorial videos we watch. If a student is IN the live session and does not participate in pear deck, the grade will be docked for non-participation in classwork. If a student is ABSENT, the lesson will be uploaded to google classroom under "classwork" as it always has this whole year. Those absent still need a doctors note in order to be considered "excused" from missing class. There is still participation and effort grades applied to students every class to ensure that they are active in the lesson when it comes time to participate in the physical skill learning. This new classwork policy will go into effect after spring break. This week I am working out the flaws that occured with video links not working, etc. I will be posting the link to each Pear Deck presentation AND the google slides presentation that it is based off of in case one doesn't work, you can go in and edit the slides with your answers. Have a GREAT spring break, we are almost to the end of school !!!

Hello everyone, from the 2nd grade team! We hope you all had a great week this week! We made it to Spring Break!!!! Students are continuing to learn a lot in each subject as we get hit the end of the 3rd quarter! All grades for the 3rd quarter are due Friday, March 26, so hopefully students were able to turn in any missing and late work! Any other work will not be accepted after Friday. In Reading, students are reading about day time and nighttime sky as well as reading biographies for Women's History Month! We're also learning about present-tense verbs and we are working on our long vowels. In Social Studies, students are reading chapter 3 from our social studies books about landforms and bodies of water around the world! Students are also working on their "Countries Around the World" project which is due after Spring Break on Friday, April 9! This is to be completed AT HOME on Google Slides. In Math, students are learning about addition and subtraction word problems, and in science, students are learning about taking apart and building! Congratulations on making it to the end of the third quarter! We have one more quarter to go before we become third graders!! If anyone has any questions about the school reopening plans, make sure to write them on the 2nd grade parents questions sheet! As we return from Spring break, we will be seeing some of our students IN PERSON!! We are so excited to see you! Make sure you come prepared with your Chromebook and charger and most importantly, your MASK! For those that are returning, you will be in the building twice a week starting on April 8! Some students are assigned to come in Mondays and Tuesday, and the others are assigned to Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays there will be NO staff or students in the building! We will all continue to be remote on Wednesdays. For the students who are not returning, you will continue your virtual experience as usual! Thank you, and we are looking forward to a relaxing week off of school next week!! Our students have been working so hard and we all deserve it! We hope everyone has a happy, relaxing, wonderful and safe Spring Break! From your 2nd Grade Team! :)
