Kindergarten News
Hello Kindergarten Families: We are half way through the month of November. This year is flying by fast. Please make sure that you are reading any messages via dojo, class story, or emails pertaining to your scholar's class or any events happening at school. Please check the weather daily so your scholar is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. We have seen some scholars come to school without a sweater or a coat. We have read through information that families shared at pastries with the principal and we are going to implement some of your ideas and suggestions. *Homework will be provided on Fridays for the upcoming week, starting on December 2, 2022. *Communication: Teachers will begin reaching out to families via dojo, email, or by phone, to touch base and give you feedback on how your scholar is doing in class. Our goal is to reach out to 1-3 students per week. Please be patient and understanding for the feedback from your scholar's teachers, as we have 23-25 scholars per class. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your scholar’s teacher. Clubs have begun and your scholars are excited to participate. With that being said, if you signed your scholar up for clubs, their afternoon dismissal is for them to be in holding with the enrichment scholars. Please remember the days that your scholar is in a club, if they are usually a car or van rider, they will not be at their regular scheduled dismissal area. If for some reason, they are not to go to club that day, please notify your scholar’s teacher ahead of time, so they can be at the correct dismissal location. This week we will be a very short week for our scholars since it is the week of Thanksgiving. We have 2-hour early dismissals on Monday and Tuesday. Your scholars will not have any homework this week, and we will be exploring with fall activities for our short time her in school. Friendly reminder: ClassDojo is one of our main forms of communication for any classroom activities or events, and messages. Please make sure that you are connected to your scholars’ ClassDojo. Emailing teachers or use of the communication folder are other ways to stay connected as well. Ms. Bryant: sbryant@cmitelementary.org Ms. Major: jmajor@cmitelementary.org Ms. Echols: eechols@cmitelementary.org Ms. Thornton: athornton@cmitelementary.org Please provide a nut free snack for your scholar daily. Your scholar should have a full set of extra change of clothes (uniform) that can be kept in their cubbies. Please label all of your scholar's items, sweaters, jackets, water bottles, lunch bags. If your scholar's form of transportation changes for dismissal, please complete the necessary forms and upload into the document, as well as notify your scholar's teacher. Upcoming events: Thanksgiving Week: Monday and Tuesday are 2 hour early dismissals (11/21 and 11/22) school will be closed 11/23-and reopen on 11/28. 12/2/2022 Stem Fair question is due. (Parents should help the students create a good question). Students should formulate a good experiment question and begin their experiment and research. Our homework is given every Monday, until 12/2. If your scholar attends enrichment in the afternoon, please provide your scholar's homework journal. They can work on it during enrichment. When they complete it, please upload the assignment to their portfolio in ClassDojo. Keep up the good work scholars and parents. The homework assignments will be posted in your scholar's class story on Mondays, which is located in ClassDojo. Thank you

2nd Grade News
We had an excellent eleventh week in second grade. Next week is a short week here at CMIT. We will be using this week to finish up any work that is still incomplete. We will also be collaborating and discussing different things we are thankful for. Updates: We only have school on Monday and Tuesday next week. Both days are 2 hour early releases. There may be a chance to be a chaperone coming up! If you have all your paperwork done, please be on the lookout for a dojo message from your scholar's teacher! Now that temperatures are dropping, please make sure scholars are coming to school with jackets. We will continue to go outside for recess. It is HIGHLY recommended that students practice their basic addition and subtraction facts with flashcards regularly at home. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher via ClassDojo. Have a terrific weekend and we will see everyone on next week!

In Reading, we will be identifying the main idea with supporting details and monitoring our comprehension in an informational text. In Social Studies, we will be studying the government in the United States. In Math, students will continue to work on division including division with remainders and partial quotients. A video will be shared on how students should be solving these kind of problems. In Science, we will review examples of energy being transferred from place to place. Students will also explain how heat flows from hot objects to cold objects. As the cold and flu season quickly approaches, we are in need of facial tissue, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes to keep the germs away. Just a friendly reminder, please notify the front office of any dismissal changes using the following link. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6hNFsCdCGcGxk_VisjTdTRghFW6zsX0o76aCwSjyjOO-vmw/viewform Let's have an awesome week on purpose!! 11/23-11/25 Thanksgiving Break
