Kindergarten News
Hello Kindergarten Families; Our scholars have their routines down to a science now, walking down to their classrooms independently, placing their belongings in their cubbies, and starting their day greeting their classmates and teacher. Please continue to label your scholar's items with their first name and last initial and the grade level too. If an item is found and it isn’t labeled, it is brought down to the lost and found that is located in the cafeteria. The Kindergarten Team is working hard at completing our last two assessments for the fall, Dibels, and DRA. We are looking forward to completing them and using the data to help assist with instruction and identifying areas that your scholar may need support. Our kindergartners are working hard and pressing through these assessments. Please continue to have your scholars get plenty of rest and eat a well balanced breakfast so they will be soaring scholars throughout the day. A routine dinner schedule and a routine bedtime schedule will help elevate sleepy scholars and promote good behaviors. We will be having “Pumpkin Day” on October 25, 2022. It will consist of a virtual field-trip to a pumpkin patch. We will learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin, how the pumpkin patch is maintained throughout the year, and all the cool things related to pumpkins. Our lessons for the day will all be related to pumpkins. We will get to explore the ins and outs of a pumpkin in our classroom. There will be a permission slip going home with your scholar that will need to be signed for your scholar to participate in exploring the pumpkin. Book Character Day Parade will be on Monday, October 31, 2022. It is a school-wide event that your scholar may participate in. Your scholar may choose a character in a book to dress up as and have the book with them. Costumes must be age appropriate, with NO MASK, and it should be easily accessible for your scholar to get on and off by themselves. We are asking that our kindergarteners create a book report about the book they bring in. We sent home information regarding this activity and the template for your scholar’s book report on Friday. The completed book report will be an assessment grade for ELA. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your scholar’s teacher.
