Hello Kindergarten Families:
Happy Fall…It is starting to become cool in the morning and we have seen several scholars come in with their CMIT jackets and sweatshirts. Please make sure that they are labeled with your scholar's first name and last initial on the tag. If items are found and they are not labeled, the items are brought down to the lost and found located in the cafeteria.
The Kindergarten Team has started the next 2 assessments, Dibels and DRA. We are looking forward to completing them and using the data to help assist with instruction and identify areas your scholar may need additional support. Our kindergartners are working hard on completing these assessments. Please continue to have your scholars get plenty of rest and eat a well balanced breakfast so they will be soaring scholars throughout the day. A routine dinner schedule and a routine bedtime schedule will help elevate sleepy scholars and promote good behaviors.
Book Character Day Parade will be on Monday, October 31, 2022. It is a school-wide event that your scholar may participate in. Your scholar may choose a character in a book to dress up as and have the book with them. Costumes must be age appropriate, with NO MASK, and it should be easily accessible for your scholar to get on and off by themselves. We are asking that our Kindergarteners create a book report about the book they bring in. We will send home information regarding this activity within the next week. if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your scholar’s teacher.
This week, we will be working on the following:
ELA: We will continue to review our sight words:” make, my, he, have, is, like, to, am, the” We will review vowels and cvc words. We are working on recognizing spoken alliteration and groups of words that begin with the same spoken onset or initial sound. We will discuss what is a setting of a story?
Social Studies Topics: What a good citizen does? Laws that keep us safe. We will continue to review our school rules that have at school.
Math: We will start on Topic 3, learning to read, write, and make numbers 6,7,8,9,10. We will name number 1-9 and count to determine the total number of objects in a group. Counting tells how many are in a group no matter the order.
Science: We will discuss “states of matter” (liquid, solid, gas). We will explore with hands-on experiments and watch videos on our SAVVAS curriculum to observe and discuss the different states of matter.
Health this week, we will talk about our emotions…emotions are what we feel, and it is ok to have Big, or Little Feelings. They can affect how we interact with others. If you are happy you will be nice to your friends. Discuss the questions: What makes us feel angry? How can we express ourselves safely?
Friendly reminder: ClassDojo is one of our main forms of communication for any classroom activities or events, and messages. Please make sure that you are connected to your scholars’ ClassDojo. Emailing teachers and using the communication folder are other ways to stay connected as well.
