Hey Hey Hey! It's May!
Welcome to the third week of May! In Math, students will be reviewing skills from Topics 1-13. In Science, students will continue with Lesson 3: Traits Influenced by the Environment. In Health, students will continue learning about empathy. In Oral/Reading, students will be reviewing skills from Units 1-4. In Social Studies, students will continue Chapter 6 Lesson 4: New Ideas. Reading MCAP Testing will be Monday- Friday, 5/16 to 5/20. Students will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the dot. Please have students get to school before 7:45 a.m. That way, they can get their breakfast (if they eat at school), and get set up for testing. Students have worked so very hard this past week, and have finished the Math MCAP! Thank you for all of your support throughout this school year! We have worked very hard to get to this moment. Please remind students of the importance of getting a good night’s rest the night before testing. Please make sure students press turn in when turning in their work in Savvas AND in Google Classroom. Please note that we follow the grading policy from PGCPS. Please look over the policy. Students are required to fill out the make-up form BEFORE attempting to redo the assignment (located in Google Classroom). Also, teachers have to approve the make-up work form before the student completes the assignment because not all assignments are eligible for resubmission. Please express to your scholar the importance of turning in their own work on time. If they have not attempted to complete the assignment and it is late, it will NOT be accepted, per the PGCPS Grading Policy. Parents will have until Wednesday to request a redo of an assignment. Resubmissions must be submitted by the following Sunday. If an assignment is not eligible for a redo, teachers will put "not eligible for redo" in the assignment description. ClassDojo is our main form of communication. Please join your scholar’s homeroom teacher’s Class Dojo. Please check ClassDojo for any updates and new information to be shared. Lastly, please be sure to check SchoolMax for all graded assignments. Have a great week! Third Grade Team

Next week in Reading, students will be analyzing and evaluating myths. In Social Studies, students will study the past and growth of the Southwest. In Math, students will be reviewing skills already taught for the Benchmark Assessment. In Science, students should be able to explain how natural hazards can negatively affect humans and describe some solutions that reduce the impact of natural hazards. We will continue our state testing next week. MCAP ELA will be May 17th-20th. Please ensure your scholar's device is fully charged before coming to school, he/she receives a good night's rest and have a well balanced breakfast to ensure he/she does well during testing. We are strongly encouraging parents to check SchoolMax weekly to stay abreast of your student's grades in all academic areas. Students can request a redo of an assignment using the Google Form that is posted in Google Classroom. Only assignments that have been assigned or entered in SchoolMax within the last week can be redone unless noted otherwise. Please have your student complete one form for each redo request. Once the form has been submitted, your student's teacher will give out additional information. If students are granted a redo, the assignment(s) must be completed within 3 days from the date assigned. Please remind your scholars to charge their devices nightly and to bring their chargers to school. All students should also have extra masks in their backpacks. We are in need of disinfectant wipes and facial tissues to keep our classrooms clean and germ free. Please consider sending in 1-2 bottles or packages with your scholar in the upcoming weeks. Thanks in advance. Let's have a great week on purpose!!
