If your child's vaccination status needs to be updated please do so utilizing the form below. This information will only be shared with pertinent school personnel and it will allow us to plan for the safest school experience possible. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESUBMIT IF YOUR CHILD'S STATUS HAS NOT CHANGED. A SEPARATE FORM SHOULD BE SUBMITTED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL STUDENT. ALLERGY SEASON and WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL
We are continuing to safely navigate through this pandemic, the cold and flu, but now allergy season is approaching. If your scholar has allergies please make sure they take their allergy medication daily to minimize confusion with COVID-19. CMIT North Elementary would also like to friendly remind parents/guardians to keep their child(ren) home if they are not feeling well. Resting at home will help them get better more quickly and will prevent them from exposing other children or the staff to their illness. If your scholar will be kept home due to illness, the acceptable method of communication to be utilized for reporting absences/late arrivals and uploading doctor/medical notes for your student(s) is the CMIT North Elementary School Absence Form. With the exception of COVID reporting, in which an email in addition to the absence form must be sent to Nurse Ann, Dr. Fryson and Mrs. Virgil. Please click here to access the CMIT North Elementary School Absence Form to submit doctor notes and any absences: https://forms.gle/JrYasoKgjVMd33Ag6 If your child is running a fever of 100.4 or greater, feels nauseous or vomits, and/or has diarrhea they are not permitted to come to school. In addition, they should be fever free and symptom free without medication for a full 24 hours from the onset of the fever or symptoms prior to returning to school. If you have any questions regarding your child’s health and well being, you may reach out to their healthcare provider or you may contact the school nurse, Nurse Ann at sally.warf@pgcps.org. Please review the attached document for additional information: Department of Student Services - Office of School Health “WHEN TO STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL/WORK” - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hipCbk8oPoiXRxt7OEC6juGllBLqwi9t/view?usp=sharing

Please note that we follow the grading policy from PGCPS. Please look over the policy. Students are required to fill out the make-up form BEFORE attempting to redo the assignment (located in google classroom). Also, teachers have to approve the student before they do the assignment because not all assignments are eligible for make-up. Please express to your scholar the importance of turning in their own work on time. If they have not attempted to complete the assignment and it is late, it will NOT be accepted, per the PGCPS Grading Policy. Parents will have until Wednesday to request a redo of an assignment. Resubmissions must be submitted by the following Sunday. If an assignment is not eligible for a redo, teachers will put "not eligible for redo" in the assignment description. Class Dojo is our main form of communication. Please join your scholar’s homeroom teacher’s Class Dojo. Please check Class Dojo for any updates and new information to be shared. Lastly, please be sure to check School Max for all graded assignments. Have a great week! Third Grade Team

Next Week in Fourth Grade
We hope you and your family had a relaxing and fun-filled Spring Break. We are officially in the last quarter of the school year. Please encourage your scholar(s) to continue to work hard to finish the year strong. Next week in Reading, students will be explaining elements of drama. In Social Studies, students will study Southwestern land, water & climate. In Math, students will be using fractions or decimals to solve word problems. In Science, students will be able to describe how rocks and soil form and identify the properties of minerals. We are strongly encouraging parents to check SchoolMax weekly to stay abreast of your student's grades in all academic areas. Students can request a redo of an assignment using the Google Form that is posted in Google Classroom. Only assignments that have been assigned or entered in SchoolMax within the last week can be redone unless noted otherwise. Please have your student complete one form for each redo request. Once the form has been submitted, your student's teacher will give out additional information. If students are granted a redo, the assignment(s) must be completed within 3 days from the date assigned. Please remind your scholars to charge their devices nightly and to bring their chargers to school. All students should also have extra masks in their backpacks. We are in need of disinfectant wipes to keep our classrooms clean and germ free. Please consider sending in 1-2 bottles or packages with your scholar in the upcoming weeks. Thanks in advance. Let's have a great week on purpose!!

Greetings Parents! This week in RELA we have moved into Unit 4 Week 3. Our skills are Science Fiction Writing, summarizing, and interpreting text structure. We will finish next week with our Progress Check. In Social Studies, the adventure continues as we explore immigration, industrial expansion , segregation, Women's rights and the importance of civil rights in the U.S. Students are vested and are highly motivated by the lessons they are learning and how the importance and value of freedom influenced many. Our focus in Math for next week is on converting measurements. Students will use multiplication and division to convert measurements of length, capacity, weight, and mass within either the customary or metric measurement system. Next week, students will begin Topic 8 - Energy and Food. As we work through this topic over the next few weeks, scholars will be able to use models to describe that energy in animals’ food (used for body repair, growth, motion, and to maintain body warmth) was once energy from the sun. They will support an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water. Finally, we will develop a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment.
