This is a friendly reminder that as we continue to work through COVID-19 please wash/sanitize your scholar(s) hats, gloves, jackets, and coats OFTEN. In addition please be sure to disinfect and sanitize student devices, cords, lunch boxes, and backpacks daily. Adhering to these reminders will assist greatly with keeping our scholars and staff members as safe as possible.
Ensure your scholar is equipped daily with at least 2 bottles/or a refillable container of water and at least 2 replacement masks daily.
Last, please remember DO NOT send your child to school when they are not well.

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL
|
As we continue to safely navigate through this pandemic and the cold and flu season, CMIT North Elementary would like to send a friendly reminder to parents/guardians to keep their child(ren) home if they are not feeling well. Resting at home will help them get better more quickly and will prevent them from exposing other children or the staff to their illness.
If your child is running a fever of 100.4 or greater, feels nauseous or vomits, and/or has diarrhea they are not permitted to come to school. In addition, they should be fever free and symptom free without medication for a full 24 hours from the onset of the fever or symptoms prior to returning to school.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s health and well being, you may reach out to their healthcare provider or you may contact the school nurse, Nurse Ann at sally.warf@pgcps.org.
Please review the attached document for additional information:

Then begin Lesson 5: Early English Communities & Lesson 6: Creating a New Nation.
Please make sure students press turn in when turning in their work in SAVVAS and in Google Classroom. Please note that we follow the grading policy from PGCPS. Please look over the policy. Students are required to fill out the make-up form BEFORE attempting to redo the assignment (located in Google Classroom). Also, teachers have to approve the form before they do the assignment because not all assignments are eligible for make-up. Please express to your scholar the importance of turning in their work on time. If they have not attempted to complete the assignment and it is late, it will NOT be accepted, per the PGCPS Grading Policy. Parents will have until Wednesday to request a redo of an assignment. Resubmissions must be submitted by the following Sunday. If an assignment is not eligible for a redo, teachers will put "not eligible for redo" in the assignment description.
ClassDojo is our main form of communication. Please join your scholar’s homeroom teacher’s ClassDojo. Please check ClassDojo for any updates and new information to be shared. Lastly, please be sure to check SchoolMax for all graded assignments. All students should be logging into the correct Zoom for each subject. Please make sure your student is following the virtual schedule for their homeroom class. Have a great week!

What's Happening in Fourth Grade
|
Welcome to Quarter 3!! We are looking forward to seeing students grow in all academic areas. Let's continue to encourage our scholars to stay focused in class, be active participants and ask clarifying questions when they do not understand something. As we continue to move along in fourth grade, the concepts will begin to become more challenging and we want to ensure that students are staying on top of their work and seeking help when needed.
Next week in Reading, students will be taking Unit 3 Week 1 Progress check and analyzing plot and setting.
In Social Studies, students will continue with Chapter 5 looking at how where we live affects us.
In Math, students will be subtracting fractions with like denominators.
In Science, students will be able to develop a model of waves using patterns in wave properties.
We are strongly encouraging parents to please check SchoolMax weekly to stay abreast of your student's grades in all academic areas. Students can request a re-do of an assignment using the Google Form that is posted in Google Classroom. Only assignments that have been assigned or entered in SchoolMax within the last week can be redone unless noted otherwise. Please have your student complete one form for each redo request. Once the form has been submitted, your student's teacher will give out additional information. If students are granted a redo, the assignment(s) must be completed within 3 days from the date assigned.
Please remind your scholars to charge their devices nightly and to bring their chargers to school. All students should also have extra masks in their backpacks.
Let's have a great week on purpose!!

MUSIC
Thank you to all families that donated recyclable and craft supplies for our instrument projects! I can’t wait to share photos of the finished products.
4th and 5th grade is moving from digital music production to instrumental music next week! If students have ukuleles of their own that they’d like to bring during our ukulele unit, they are able to store them in the music room. Please wait until your student’s class has gotten the go-ahead for bringing in instruments at the beginning of their unit.

I do not deduct points for not being in the gym uniform, but it is strongly suggested for the safety & comfort of your students whil engaging in physical play & activity. Thank you all!
