Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures
Dismissal begins at 2:25 p.m. All students will be dismissed from their classrooms. Bus/van riders Students will be dismissed from their classrooms and exit the building from the main entrance. Parents, share these procedures with your transportation vendor. CMIT does not provide transportation. Drivers will receive scholars on Chevy Chase Drive. After scholars are safely on the bus, the driver must leave immediately to reduce traffic. Drivers are to follow the directions of the staff member on duty. Car Riders All students will be dismissed from their classrooms and exit the building through the cafeteria door. Parents are to enter the second entrance and drive around to the cafeteria in the back of the school. Two lines will be formed. Please make sure you are alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. Wait patiently in line for your scholar to be escorted to your car. To exit - continue towards the first entrance on Chevy Chase Dr. Staff members will be on duty. Please be prepared to follow their directions. Please use your mirrors and drive with caution at all times. Enrichment/Club Students will remain in their classrooms and will be dismissed at 2:55 p.m.

Safety Measures
Parents/Guardians, Here is a list of some of our safety measures we have in place for our students and staff. 1. Hand Sanitizer stations 2. Hand washing/Sanitizing schedules (every 2 hours) 3. Needlepoint Ionization Bipolar System that cleans the air. 4. Schoolwide mask mandate 5. Family Health Screening 6. Staff Health Screening 7. Safety signage for social distancing throughout the building 8. Sanitizing procedure between usage of materials 9. Desk Shields and appropriate spacing 10. Assigned/ Numbered seats 11. Covid-19 Compliance team to monitor our daily operations. 12. Students assigned a number to assist with contact tracing. 13. One-to-One devices for scholars 14. Covid-19 safety trainings 15. PPE for all staff and students 16. Visitors are appointments only 17. Merv 13 Filters for the central air and heat 18. Morning Drop-off Procedures
Car Riders: Parents are to enter the second entrance and drive around to the cafeteria in the back of the school. The back door will open at 7:35 am. A staff member will open the door to let the scholar out of the car. Please ensure that your scholar is ready to exit and do not release them prior to a staff member opening the door. **Parents should not exit their vehicle** To exit - continue towards the first entrance on Chevy Chase Dr. Staff members will be on duty. Please be prepared to follow their directions. Bus Riders: Buses will turn at the cul-de-sac on Chevy Chase Drive and release scholars, at 7:35 am, at the pick up/drop-off steps. Students will cross the parking lot in the marked area, with a staff member, and follow the sidewalk to the back, cafeteria door. After drivers release scholars, they must leave immediately to reduce traffic. Drivers are to follow the directions of the staff member on duty. No scholars should be waiting to enter the building. If you need to drop your scholar off prior to 7:35 am, please sign them up for morning Enrichment.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
The start of the school day begins at 7:35 a.m. and classes begin at 7:55 a.m. The school dismissal period is from 2:25 p.m. – 2:55 p.m. Early dismissals are discouraged. We request medical/dental appointments, etc., be arranged when possible after school hours, on free days, on Saturdays, or during vacation periods. Absences, doctor notes, and early dismissal notes are to be recorded using the CMIT North Elementary School Absence Form within three (3) days of your child’s return. Family vacations/trips are not considered excused absences; therefore, it is strongly discouraged to schedule family vacations during school time. FREE SCHOOL MEALS FOR ALL PGCPS STUDENTS FOR 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR!
Student meals are free for ALL students this school year! Families are still encouraged to complete the meal benefit application, which determines eligibility for the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Program (P-EBT) and more. Meals for virtual learners: Meal boxes consisting of breakfast, lunch, and supper for five days will be available for pick up by virtual school students on Friday afternoons from 3 to 4 p.m. at regional meal distribution schools to be announced.

Ms. West I have been in the field of education for the past 18 years. I am a mother of 4. I enjoy watching children grow and being a part of the foundation that helps them build their best selves. Ms. Gunter This is my second year at CMIT NES. I have been working in the field of education for the past 13 years. I am looking forward to a safe, healthy, and productive school year. Ms. Bryant I have been a first-grade paraprofessional at CMIT for 4 years and absolutely love working with the children in our school. I have worked in the school system for 12 years I am married with 2 children. This is a wonderful environment and I am glad to be a part of the CMIT community. Ms. McClain I have been in education for 27 years. I have taught Head Start, Pre-K and Kindergarten in the private sector as well as PGCPS. I feel that it is important to start someone’s education off in a positive atmosphere so that they thrive throughout their school years. Ms. Reid I have been at CMIT NES for the past four years. I have worked with students in all grade levels. I have a passion for improving student performance and assisting students excel and reach their full potential. Mr. Nickens I have been in the field of education since 2012. This will be my second year working with the CMIT NES team. I look forward to getting to know all of my new students. Ms. Broadnax I have been at CMIT NES for the past six years. I have worked in various positions within the school. I currently provide support to special education students. I am dedicated to ensuring the success of all diverse learners. Ms. Pettus I have been in education for the past 25 years. I have worked in various position within PGCPS and the CMIT. I believe that all children can learn. Mr. Wilson This will be my second year assisting students at CMIT NES. Looking forward to a positive school year.

Let's Get Ready to Grow!
We are excited to start a new year and to have scholars back in the building. We hope that your scholars are as excited to start on their educational journey and make new friends. Please make sure that you are staying in contact with your scholar's teachers, there will be a large amount of information provided over the next few weeks. Feel free to reach out to your scholar's teacher with any questions that you may have. If you do not already have a school issued device, contact the tech department at help@cmitelementary.org in order to sign up for a device. We will have a snack time due to our early lunch. Make sure snacks that you send with your scholar are nut-free. A little about us: Ms. Barton: This is my fourth year at CMIT. I am from Maryland and graduated from UM with a Bachelors in Elementary Ed. I am currently in graduate school, working towards a degree in Natural Science and Environmental Education. I have been working with children for over 20 years, coached gymnastics for 10 years, and have worked in school systems in various capacities for the past 15 years. I look forward to a great year with you and your scholars. Ms. Thornton: This is my third year teaching Kindergarten at CMIT. I am originally from Rhode Island (the smallest state in the country), and I moved to Maryland in 1996; however, I still have a very strong northern accent that I have learned to accept. I have one daughter named Carina, she is in her second year of college at H.C.C. I started working in the education field right out of high school, while attending college. I have my BA degree in IDS: Early Childhood Education; with a minor in Communication and Behavior Studies. I have been teaching for over 30 years, and I really enjoy seeing the progress in each scholar as they learn throughout the years. Ms. Echols: This is my third year teaching kindergarten at CMIT Elementary. I have an Associates in Early Childhood Education and I graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with a bachelors in Sociology. I am currently enrolled as a graduate student at Towson University to obtain a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I am excited for another year teaching our scholars! Ms. Major: This is my first year teaching at CMIT, however; I have taught Pre-K for the past 6 years in PGCPS. I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. My oldest daughter is working on her Masters at Walden University. My other daughter is a freshman at Towson and my son is a senior at CMIT high school. I look forward to an amazing school year with your scholars.

Welcome to First Grade!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! We are all so excited to greet so many of our students in person (and some virtual) this school year. During the first weeks of school, we will be working on and practicing procedures and expectations for classroom and getting scholars acclimated to being in the building for the first time this school year. We look forward to an amazing year with you all. Meet the first grade team: Ms. Lewis: I am a proud alumna of Howard University and a graduate of Prince George's County Schools. This school year will be my eighth year as an educator and third year at CMIT Elementary. I enjoy traveling, shopping, reading, music and cooking in my spare time. I am looking forward to teaching an amazing first grade class this school year! Ms. Hutchins: This will be my eighteenth year teaching and my seventh year at CMIT Elementary School. I graduated with my B.A. in elementary education from Northern Kentucky University and went on to get my Masters in Administration at McDaniel College. I enjoy reading and taking care of my family in my spare time. I love teaching first grade and look forward to a great school year. Ms. Akindele: This is my first year teaching at CMIT Elementary! I am excited about teaching first grade and look forward to a fantastic school year! Mr. Brillantes: This is my fifth year of teaching in CMIT and I am really excited and happy to work with the technology-savvy first grade students. I love to try new foods and travel to places that I've never been before. I play basketball and sometimes golf in my leisure time. I am a Redskins, Orioles, and Wizards fan. I love to teach to build knowledge to children and give them tools to be ready for a technology-filled future. I look forward to a very exciting, interesting, and fun-filled school year of 1st grade!

Meet the Second Grade Team!
We would like to welcome everyone to another amazing year here at CMIT! We look forward to having an excellent year with all of you. Below you will find a quick introduction from each of the second-grade teachers. My name is Mr. Trippe. I am one of the Second Grade teachers here at CMIT Elementary School. I have lived in Maryland my whole life and love it here. I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Science and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I am very excited to be back at CMIT for my eighth year and to see what this school year has in store. Hello! My name is Ms. Stollof. I have lived in Baltimore Maryland my entire life and love every part of it. I graduated from Stevenson University, previously Villa Julie College, in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I am very excited to start my fourth year teaching Second Grade at CMIT Elementary. This year will be full of growth for each and every scholar and I am so grateful that I am able to be a part of it. My name is Mr. Chang. I grew up in Indonesia, but have been living in Maryland since I started college. I graduated from UMBC with a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies as well as an Elementary Education certificate. I just started going back to UMBC to work towards an MAE in STEM. This is my second year of teaching at CMIT, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how much we’ll learn and accomplish this year! My Name is Mrs. Glasper and I am excited to be your child’s teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Prairie View A&M University. This is my fourth year as a second-grade teacher here at CMIT. Before I started my teaching profession, I was the director of Glasper Family Childcare for twelve years. Teaching and the development of young children have been two of my passions. My goal as an educator is to promote active learning among students in every aspect of their lives. Lastly, I am proud to say that I'm a published author of my first children's book.

Welcome Back to School!
Welcome to the new school year! Let's meet the third grade team: Ms. Davis: I graduated from high school in 2012. I attended Bowie State University. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I received my Masters degree from Columbia International University. I graduated in the summer of 2020. Some things that I love to do include volleyball, photography, karaoke, and leisure reading. Ms. Hamilton: Hello! My name is Ms.Hamilton and this is my first year here at CMIT North elementary! I graduated this past fall from Morgan State University. This will be my first official year teaching but I have been working with children for the past 5 years. Outside of school, I love to watch sci-fi movies & shows, specifically Marvel series. Lastly, I am a member of a community oriented organization Zeta Phi Beta Sorority inc. where we give back to the community through scholarship and service. Mrs. Richardson: Welcome back! This is Mrs. Richardson and this will be my eighth year teaching at CMIT. I taught first grade for 6 years and this will be my second year teaching third grade Math, Science, and Health! I graduated with my B.A. in Elementary Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University. I graduated in May 2019 with my Master's degree in Administration and Supervision, also from Notre Dame of Maryland University. I enjoy spending time with her family, reading, scrapbooking, shopping, and baking. I am looking forward to a great school year! Ms. Kelley: Hello Everyone, My name is Jazzminn Kelley; I am the third grade Reading/ Social Studies teacher. I have been teaching at CMIT elementary for three years now. I am currently in school to earn my Masters in Elementary Education. I am super excited about teaching third grade this year, I can’t wait to work with our scholars!

Welcome to 4th Grade!!
The 4th Grade Team would like to welcome you and your scholar to the 2021-2022 school year. We are really excited to meet your scholars in person and virtually. We are looking forward to the amazing work your scholars will be producing and the lasting memories we will be creating together. The one thing that we would like for you to remember is that we are all better when we work together. As a team, we can accomplish anything. With your continuous support we know that we will have an awesome year! Let's meet the fourth grade team! Ms. Jeffers (Reading & Social Studies/ Team Lead) Ms. Jeffers is going into her 11th year of teaching. She received her Bachelor's degree from Long Island University- Brooklyn Campus in Childhood Education and her Master's in Curriculum & Instruction:Reading from Concordia University-Portland. She recently became a member of Lambda Kappa Omega Sorority, Inc. and is working on growing her chapter in Baltimore and building relationships in the community. She is passionate about teaching reading and the many different places and experiences books can take you. When she is not grading papers, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, & shopping. She is looking forward to an awesome school year and can’t wait to begin this new journey with her scholars. Mr. Williams (Math & Science) This will be Mr. Williams' 3rd year teaching 4th grade Math/Science/Health at CMIT. He started teaching in 2006 and has previously taught 4th grade as well as 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math in middle school. He has a Master's Degree in teaching and is also a certified STEM Master Teacher. He lives in the Baltimore area with a new puppy, dog, and a cat. Mrs. Cooper (Reading & Social Studies) Mrs. Cooper is SO excited to be teaching 4th grade Reading and Social Studies this year! She is a UMBC graduate and this will be her first year at CMIT North Elementary! She lives in Columbia with her husband and two cats. She loves reading and she also enjoys singing, dancing, and painting. She can't wait to be your scholar's fourth grade teacher this year. She looks forward to an awesome school year full of learning and fun! Mrs. Terrell (Math & Science) Mrs. Terrell is entering into her 24th year of teaching, and she is excited to join the CMIT Elementary family. She received her BS degree from one of the greatest HBCUs in the country, Alabama State University, her Masters from the University of Phoenix and her Education Specialist from Capella University! She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she spends a great deal of time working and volunteering in the community. She owns and operates Worth It Mental Health Wellness, LLC and is a speaker and author, as well. Her favorite quote is, "The best way to gain confidence is to do it scared!" We are looking forward to an awesome year!!

ROARing with Fifth Grade!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! We hope you've all had a safe, relaxing summer. It's hard to believe the summer is over and the kids are heading back to school! The fifth grade team is ready to welcome your scholars back to the Tiger's Den to deliver strong, quality instruction as we prepare them for matriculation to middle school. Introducing the Fifth Grade Team: Math/Science/Health Greetings Parents! My name is Mrs. Williams and I am excited to join the CMIT Community as a 5th grade Math/Science/health Teacher! I was born and raised in Maryland, attended Prince George's County Public Schools throughout my schooling. I remained in MD to receive my Bachelor's degree from UMBC, then became dual certified in Elementary and Special Education, and received a Master's degree in Leadership in Teaching from Notre Dame of Maryland University. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, and trying new recipes with my two-year old son who also loves to cook. This is my 7th year of teaching and I am looking forward to this school year, and getting to know you all! My name is Mrs. Linton-Philp. I teach 5th grade Math, Science, and Health. I have been teaching for more than 10 years. I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, and my Master’s Degree is in Math and Science from Walden University. I am excited to be a part of the CMIT School Family for the fourth year! RELA/Social Studies I am Mrs. Moon. This is my fifth year teaching and my fourth year at CMIT! I love teaching and am very excited to see some familiar faces and new faces! I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Loyola University Maryland. I have a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, focusing in Adolescent Literacy from Concordia University Portland. My favorite colors are teal and purple and my favorite drink is Dr. Pepper. I love Disney and Musicals! Hello parents, my name is Ms. Crosby and I am the program coordinator here at CMIT. I will be your child's 5th grade substitute teacher until further notice. In the meantime I am so excited to be able to spend the first part of your child's last year here at CMIT North Elementary. This is my sixth year here at CMIT NES. I have been teaching for more than 20 years and look forward to this year with you all.

Welcome Back to the Den!
It is with the entire spectrum of emotions that I welcome you all to our 2021-2022 school year! For those of you with whom I have been blessed to work with before: I am eager to continue the partnership and see what we will accomplish together this year! For those I will be meeting for the first time: Yay! Welcome to the Tiger’s Den! I cannot wait to learn and grow with you! This is my eleventh year as a PSC in Prince Georges County, and more specifically my 7th year here are CMIT North Academy. It is my honor and privilege to serve this community. We learned so much last year about what we are capable of doing virtually or otherwise, and I am excited to bring those opportunities along with us this year. LOOK OUT FOR: Parent Needs Assessment! I will send this out via a link in DoJo in the next two weeks. The feedback and idea sharing that I receive on this form help me to shape my school-wide counseling program, as well as keeps us informed as a school of how we are doing so please be sure you take the few minutes to fill it out Bullying Prevention/Pro-Kindness Committee Membership! I have a few parent spots opening up on this critically important committee. We work together to raise a generation that promotes kindness to all and doesn’t tolerate anything less :) (We plan talks, programs, and responses to unkind treatment for students and parents alike!) Meet the Special Education Team!
Hello Tigers and Families!!! Welcome back to CMIT for another FABULOUS school year! Please take some time to get to know Ms. McVeigh and Mr. Wright! Ms. McVeigh begins her 5th year of teaching and 4th year as the Special Education Department Chair at CMIT Elementary School. She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from York College of Pennsylvania in York, Pennsylvania. During her undergrad, Ms. McVeigh was able to do her student teaching semester in Burke County, North Carolina. She worked in a 1st grade classroom as well as a Resource Special Education Teacher for students in grades Kindergarten- 5th. Ms. McVeigh is a PG County native and a graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. She knew from the young age of 7 that her passion in life was to become a teacher. She is thrilled to continue with her passion of teaching as she embarks on another wonderful year here at CMIT! Keep ROARing Tigers! Mr. Wright is a fourth year teacher at CMIT North Elementary School. It gives him a great sense of joy to follow his passion in the field of education and to make a difference in the lives of his students. CMIT is a school that is steadily growing in number and reputation and he am happy to be a part of that journey. Working in the Special Education department as a resource teacher, he is excited to provide interactive and engaging lessons to develop student’s academic abilities on all levels. Most importantly being able to see students succeed is what is most rewarding in this great task of being a teacher. Finally, outside of school he enjoys community engagement activities such as coaching football, which he has been doing for over 10 years. He also enjoy traveling and the time spent with his family.
