Have a Great Summer!
Greetings CMIT Families and Staff, We have made it through a pandemic! With our teamwork, perseverance, and dedication to our scholars, they were able to accomplish so many things this year. Just to name a few, we were awarded 2nd place in the MESA competition. We were also awarded two-grand prizes, three-first place prizes , one-second place prize, one-third place prize, and one-ESFCU Supervisor award in the PGCPS STEM Fair. In addition, we were also certified a Kindness School. I am very grateful to my wonderful parents who were flexible, understanding, and willing to volunteer their time for the many events we hosted virtually this year. You all are simply amazing! I am asking all of my CMIT families and staff members to take this time off to relax, enjoy your family, and recuperate because we will be back in school before you know it. Have a wonderful summer!

Dear Prince George’s County Public Schools Community, As we prepare to end the 2020-21 school year, I look forward to the fall with great excitement for the opportunity to reconnect with our students, families, educators, administrators and staff. You have shown an incredible sense of community and resilience during these challenging times and I am proud of what we have accomplished together. Looking ahead to next school year, our goal is to have students back in our buildings this fall — full-time and in-person daily. Our staff had the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and we encourage students who are 12 years old and up to get the vaccine now that it is available. In line with guidance from the Maryland State Department of Education and State Board of Education, hybrid instruction will be discontinued this fall. We understand that families of children who are not yet eligible for a vaccine may have concerns about sending their child back to school. We will offer a limited virtual learning option for students in kindergarten through sixth grade for the fall semester. We are also excited to announce a new PGCPS Online Campus for students in seventh through 12th grades. The Online Campus is designed for those who thrived during virtual learning this past school year and want to continue in a virtual learning environment with live and recorded instruction. This will be an application-based program with limited slots. Please note that students who are not able to attend in-person learning due to medical reasons may apply for Home and Hospital teaching. I invite you to join me Wednesday, June 9 at 5 p.m. for a Telephone Town Hall to learn more about our fall plans. Parents and guardians will automatically receive a call from the school system. You may also join by calling 844-734-8766. Simultaneous interpretation in Spanish will be available by calling 508-924-5155. As always, I appreciate your partnership and continued support on this journey forward. Sincerely, Monica Goldson, Ed.D. Final Week in First Grade
Dear 1st Grade Parents, As we end the school year, we'd like to thank all of you for your support in helping our scholars achieve and grow during this crazy year! We had so much fun learning and even though we had to adjust to distance learning, we had an incredibly successful year. Please remember to keep up the good work over the summer vacation: read, write, think, do math, explore, and help fuel your child's inquiry and growth. Don't forget that Monday and Tuesday (6/14-6/15) will be a 2 hour early dismissal for students. We will also be doing our Solar Oven project on those days so please accumulate materials if you haven't done so already: pizza box, black construction paper, tin foil, plastic wrap, tape, and s'mores ingredients (graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate). We will construct the ovens on Monday and cook our s'mores on Tuesday! Have a wonderful summer and we'll see you in the fall!
