2nd Grade News

We had a fantastic week in Second Grade!
Next week in Reading, we will continue Unit 5: "Our Incredible Earth." The big question for the unit is "How does Earth change?" The question of the week is "What can rocks reveal about how Earth changes?" Throughout the week, we will focus on informational text. The spelling pattern will be abbreviations. In Math, we will be reviewing the final units (i.e. geometry, measurement, shapes, and graphs).
As a reminder, it is recommended that students practice their basic addition and subtraction facts with flashcards regularly at home.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher via ClassDojo.

Weekly News
|
The end is almost near. We are almost at the finish line. Let's encourage our scholars to continue to work hard to finish up Quarter 4. The third grade team would like to give a BIG shout out to all third graders for working hard this year. Keep up the good work!
Just a friendly reminder to check SchoolMax weekly for your scholar's current standings in all of their classes. Encourage your scholar to stay on top of their assignments and complete their work in a timely manner. It is very easy to fall behind and we want to ensure that all scholars are successful. As a reminder, scholars will have an opportunity to resubmit assignments to improve their grades. Weekly grades will be entered by Sunday at midnight. Parents will have until Wednesday to request a redo of an assignment. Resubmissions must be submitted by the following Sunday. If an assignment is not eligible for a redo, teachers will put "not eligible for redo" in the assignment description.
Next week, scholars will continue topic 15 Attributes of Two Dimensional Shapes. In Science, scholars will continue Topic 6 Adaptations and Survival. In Reading, scholars will explain the author's purpose in a biography. In Social Studies, we will begin Chapter 7 Celebrating Our Communities.
Please remind your scholar to log back into class at the designated time so that they are not missing out on instruction. Our time is limited with students and we would like to maximize our time with students.
We also want to share with families that Class Dojo is our main communication platform to share information with families quickly. Please check Class Dojo daily for any updates and new information shared.
All students will be asynchronous on June 9th, 2021. There will be no small group instruction.
Have an awesome week... on purpose!!
