Week of March 15th
As we continue to move through the school year and prepare for first grade, allow your scholars to be as independent as possible. Students should be doing their own work and not receiving answers from parents or siblings. In order for the teachers to know what your scholar is able to do and assist them, your scholar needs to complete their own assignments in class and on Wednesday's . The teachers have noticed inconsistencies in work turned in and work scholars are completing independently in class. Please be aware of what is happening around your scholars computers and remember that staff, students, and other parents can see what happens within the view of your scholars camera and can hear what is being said when microphones are on. We have been seeing and hearing things that are not appropriate. There will be no small groups on Wednesday, March 17th. We will be asynchronous as teachers have a county professional development in order to prepare for hybrid learning. This week in ELA we will: Introduce sight words: were, some, funny and introduce short and long /i/ We will review sight words: away, little, give and review short and long /a/ We will review fiction, pronouns, and syllables Take a weekly check in assessment in SAVVAS This week in Math we will: Practice counting forward from any number to 20 Count to find how many, no matter position of objects Practice solving word problems This week in Social Studies we will: Continue learning about maps and globes Learn about positional words and map keys Learn how to read a map This week in Science we will: Learn about the needs of animals and how animals meet those needs. Dates to know March 17th-- Asynchronous Day March 18th- Weekly check in assessment for ELA March 25th-- Social Studies assessment (tentative date) March 29- April 5-- Spring break

What's Happening in Third Grade
Just a friendly reminder to check SchoolMax weekly for your scholar's current standings in all of their classes. Encourage your scholar to stay on top of their assignments and complete their work in a timely manner. It is very easy to fall behind and we want to ensure that all scholars are successful. As a reminder, scholars will have an opportunity to resubmit assignments to improve their grades. Weekly grades will be entered by Sunday at midnight. Parents will have until Wednesday to request a redo of an assignment. Resubmissions must be submitted by the following Sunday. If an assignment is not eligible for a redo, teachers will put "not eligible for redo" in the assignment description. Next week in Math, scholars will continue studying Topic 8 Use Strategies and Properties to Add and Subtract. In Science, scholars will continue Climate. In Reading, scholars will be identifying characteristics of a biography. In Social Studies, we will continue with Chapter 4 Government, Landmarks, and Symbols. We just want to share with families that Class Dojo is our main communication platform to share information with families quickly. Please check Class Dojo daily for any updates and new information shared. Have an awesome week... on purpose!! Upcoming Dates 3/13/2021 STEM Fair 3/19/2021 Honor Roll Assembly

Friendly reminder, late assignments need to be submitted within 2 weeks of due date. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Music: Grades K and 1 are continuing to use interactive resources like Peardeck, Nearpod, and Google Slides. Make sure your scholar has their CMIT Gmail logged in to their device so they can participate and sign in with Google. Grades 2 and 3 are using Quaver now, but all grades will be using it in the coming months. If you'd like to get ahead of the game and help out your scholar, have their STUDENT ID saved or written down somewhere for them to use when they login. This is available on their SchoolMAX or on report cards/progress reports. Ms. B has access to all student ID's and can help students out in class or via email any time! _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Media: Kindergarten and 1st grade: The students will complete an in-class quiz using information from the E-books series Bark Park.
