Pretty Brown Girl Day/Virtual Vision Board Party
|
The Pretty Brown Girl Club will be celebrating our Annual Pretty Brown Girl Day-Virtual Vision Board Party on February 27, 2021 from 12-2pm. We will be hosting a vision board party for all girls and women in our school community. PBG Day takes place each year on the fourth Saturday of February during Black-History Month. Annually, we choose a theme that supports the learning and empowerment of our girls. Our theme this year is “Awaken, Align & Achieve” as we seek to help girls live the life they imagine. During our virtual celebration, you will learn more about our club and create vision boards. A vision board is a poster board collage made up of pictures from magazines designed to remind you of what they want to see, do or become. Pretty Brown Girls create vision boards to focus on their future and carry a clear picture of their dreams and goals. Whether you’re a Leader, Parent, Student, Mentor, or Community Leader, PBG Day offers us an opportunity to empower girls. All are welcomed to join us in the celebration and create a vision board for 2021! Hope to see you there!
Supplies needed for creating your Vision Board
-White Poster Boards (This can be determined by the number of guests you will have. We recommend using only 1/2 a board for younger girls)
-Lots of Magazines
-Scissors
-Glue
-Markers
-Glitter (optional)
If you don't have the supplies, you can create a DIGITAL VISION BOARD. More information will be shared during the party. Hope to see you there!

Greetings!
This week in RELA, students took their "Mama’s Window" Progress Checks on Tuesday. They began reading "Trombone Shorty," working to make connections and identify the author’s purpose. Next week, we will finish "Trombone Shorty" and continue to work on our realistic fiction stories in class.

This week in Math, we will be adding and subtracting fractions. Some students are still unsure of how to make equivalent fractions - if they need extra assistance they will be coming back during office hours. Please remind your scholar to ask for additional help if they need it. Continue to work with your child to make sure they gain multiplication fact fluency.
This week in Science, we talked about 4-3: Rocks, Minerals, and Soil. We could describe how rocks and soil forms, and identify the properties of minerals. Next week we will be learning 4-4: Weathering and Erosion. In their Science Google Classroom their notebook is a great guide for visuals. Look under classwork then 📓 Student Science Notebook then 📕 SCI - Topic 4: Earth's Landforms. (it is a view only document) On February 19th we got the chance to hear from a panel of representatives with Ms. Green. We talked about college readiness.
