We had a fantastic fourth week in second grade!
Thank you to all parents that helped their scholars access MAP testing over the past two weeks! Make-ups will continue on Wednesday (9/30/2020).
Next week, we will continue Unit 1 in reading. Because we did not get to it this past week, we will be reading "Maybe Something Beautiful" throughout the week, we will focus on realistic fiction. What's New in Third Grade
|
As we begin to move through our curriculum, it is important that scholars are remaining focused during virtual lessons and participating in class discussions. Things do move fast and we want to ensure that scholars are getting the most out of their time in each class. Encourage your scholar to ask questions when something does not make sense and share his/her thinking with the class. Together we can all learn from each other.
In Math, scholars will continue to discuss multiplication and will have an assessment on October 6,2020. In Science, they will continue with Motion & Forces. In Reading, scholars will continue to read traditional tales focusing on identifying its characteristics. In Social Studies, we will study Weather, Climate, & Forces.
We have finished our initial round of MAP testing in both Reading and Math. Students who have not completed their assessments in either subject areas will be pulled on Wednesday to finish up. Additional details will be shared from your scholar's teachers.
Just a friendly reminder, that on Wednesdays students should be completing assignments posted in both of their classes to be marked present. Once students have completed the assignments, they should be marking the assignment as done or turning it in. Please remind your scholar to only submit assignments when he/she has completed the assignment.
Here are a few tips to troubleshoot some issues that may arise when using the SAVVAS platform:
-At the end of the school day, have your scholar shut down his or her device so that it can get a rest and be ready for the next day.
-When on the SAVVAS platform, ensure that your scholar is on Google Chrome when logging in.
Let's have a great week on purpose!
