Message from Dr. Fryson
|
On July 15th, PGCPS Superintendent, Dr. Goldson shared the 2020-2021 Reopening Plan for students, teachers, and staff. It was shared that students will begin the school year with distance learning and conditions will be reassessed in the winter to determine if and when students can return to the building.
We will follow PGCPS guidelines and implement live, online instruction. However, please be advised that our curriculum is different from PGCPS, hence our schedules may differ because we are a STEAM-focused school.
Some students may not have access to a device to participate in distance learning. If your child does not have a device at home, procedures for borrowing technology will be forthcoming.
Virtual distance learning orientation sessions will be held in August for students and parents. These sessions will provide pertinent information to ensure students’ success. During these sessions, we will discuss school-wide expectations, policies and procedures, and strategies to motivate our scholars. In addition, a tutorial on navigating our online platforms will be shared as a resource that can be used as needed.
I am very excited for the 2020-2021 school year. Our theme is “Putting the T.E.C.H. in Technology: Teaching Evidence-based, Critical-Thinking Habits.” We will achieve this by reasoning, evaluating, analyzing, and problem-solving (R.E.A.P.ing). Please continue to check your emails for our school newsletter with updates and important information needed for the 2020-2021 school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tenika Fryson, Principal
Administration
