Administrative Announcements
New Assistant Principal
Greetings CMIT-NES Family, I am so humbled and honored to be your newly appointed and approved Assistant Principal. My focus for this year will be our academic program. I am looking forward to carrying out the mission and vision of this school and engineering more relationships with all of our stakeholders. As I reflect on my past experiences as an educator, I am confident that they have all contributed to this new role. I am a proud product of Prince George’s County Public Schools and an alumni of Towson University, where I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. It seemed perfectly fitting to embark upon my career as an educator in 2005 in the district that shaped my life. In these 14 years as a PGCPS educator, I have taught grades 2 through 6 (all subject areas), served as a team leader, teacher mentor, and curriculum writer. At CMIT, I have served as an Instructional Lead Teacher, Saturday School Coordinator, and Testing Coordinator. I celebrate this new opportunity with my husband and daughter. Those two have taught me the importance of love, acceptance, and most of all, patience! I truly believe that every child possesses unique characteristics and an ability to achieve. To Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation, PGCPS, Dr. Fryson, and you, my CMIT family, thank you for entrusting me with this charge. It is truly a blessing to be able to serve in a community as great as ours!

Music Our Tiger Musicians are brushing up on their note reading skills for our two upcoming units: recorder and ukulele! Grades 3-5 need a recorder by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17th. I moved this date up one week to ensure that we'd be in full swing of our recorder unit the following week. We will begin playing the week of February 17th. Check your dojo class story for info about purchasing, and message me with any questions. 30 ukuleles are on the way, and these will be played by grades 2-5. I'm so excited to add these instruments to our collection. Our spring concert series, STEM Connections, is approaching quickly. This concert series will require a LOT of hands on preparations from students. We are exploring the science of sound and instrument classifications. YES - families will be invited. Keep an eye out for donations of recycled materials and family volunteer dates - we'll need all hands on deck to pull some of this off. For now, if any families have empty containers from bulk snacks like pretzels, animal crackers, cheese balls, etc. (37oz/2lbs or MORE), have your student bring them to the music room. Make sure to rinse and dry containers first, as some students have food allergies and we cannot be too cautious. Musically, Ms. Bautch PE All students will be completing the dance/rhythm unit over the next two weeks and we will then move to rope jumping that will coincide with the Heart Healthy Hero's for the American Heart Association. This is our third year doing so and our goal is to raise over $1000 to donate to the AHA again this year.
